‘Alaska: The Last Frontier’ Star, Charlotte, Has A Book Recommendation For Fans
Fans adore the family of Alaska: The Last Frontier. The Kilcher family has blessed the homes of fans all around the world for over 10 years now. Viewers tune in to see what antics the family is getting into each week. Some episodes end in smiles, while others end in sorrow. One thing is for certain. Fans are in love with the unorthodox family living in Alaska: The Last Frontier.
Charlotte Kilcher
Charlotte Kilcher is originally from Northern California. However, the free-spirited pioneer woman left her home in California in 1978 to work as a wildlife biologist in Alaska. She was very successful in her career until the Exxon Valdez oil spill of 1989 changed everything. The spill was devastating for much of South-central Alaska. Charlotte set out to help clean up the environmental disaster. This is where she met Otto Kilcher. The couple fell in love and began to build a new life together on the Kilcher Homestead. Otto and his “hippy chick from Berkeley” have been loving each other ever since.
Being a vegetarian from an early age, Charlotte had to adapt to life on the homestead. Respecting the self-sufficient life of the Kilcher family, she focuses on gardening, raising chickens & ducks for eggs, beekeeping as well as milking the cow as her way of contributing to the family food supply.
Charlotte has an amazing love for nature. However, the love of her four children, sons Torrey and August, and stepsons Levi and Eivin, is what she considers to be the greatest blessing of her life. Rarely ever seen without a smile on her face, Charlotte is thankful for every day she gets to enjoy the unique life they share on the homestead.
Book Recommendation
Charlotte recently went to Instagram to recommend a new book to fans. The book entitled La Finca: Love, Loss, and Laundry on a Tiny Puerto Rican Island. The book is written by Charlotte’s lifelong friend, Corky Parker. La Finca is a memoir about starting a new life while facing many challenges.
Charlotte makes the recommendation to fans saying,
“I’m excited to share news about this awesome book! La Finca Love, Loss, and Laundry on a Tiny Puerto Rican Island. By Corky Parker. The perfect read for winter and a tropical escape!
Now life long friends, Corky and I grew up together in Berkeley, California in the crazy 60’s dreaming of moving to the country and raising goats. Eventually I turned Alaskan homesteader and have one goat. Corky manifested her version of tropical homesteading on the small island of Vieques where only the leg of a goat was found in her yard.
Dreams usually turn out differently than we plan but it’s all about the journey, Right? La Finca is Corky’s spirited tale of adventure and trials faced during 20+ years running a rustic eco-lodge. Cleverly told with loads of humor and honesty and splashed all over with beautiful color illustrations and photos bringing even more life to each page.”
