Erika Jayne, Tom Girardi Sued For Alleged Fraud And Embezzlement
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne and her estranged husband Tom Girardi allegedly embezzled funds. According to court documents obtained by Page Six on Wednesday, December 2, class-action firm Edelson PC filed a complaint against the pop star and her lawyer husband. The lawsuit claims that they represented a group of Boeing plane crash victims who believe the settlement funds went towards their lavish lifestyle.
As fans know, Erika and Tom are in the middle of a messy divorce. In early November, she shocked fans when she announced their split. The couple seemed to be happy and in love, even on the show.
RHOBH stars sued for allegedly embezzling money amid divorce
According to the Page Six report, the lawsuit claims that Tom Girardi and his law firm Girardi Keese “are on the verge of financial collapse and locked in a downward spiral of mounting debts and dwindling funds.” The Hollywood attorney has a “need to fund outrageous lifestyles for himself and his soon-to-be ex-wife Erika Jayne” is the reason behind their divorce.
“While Erika publicly filed for divorce this month, on information and belief, that ‘divorce’ is simply a sham attempt to fraudulently protect Tom’s and Erika’s money from those that seek to collect on debts owed by Tom and his law firm GK,” the lawsuit read.
In addition, Tom allegedly kept money for his clients. It read that he “continues to use that money to fund his and Erika’s lavish lifestyle, release guarantees, pay down loans, route the money to friends and family and satisfy other outstanding debts.”
Edelson PC, a nationally recognized law firm, filed the complaint against the lawyer and others. Tom is currently facing charges of fraud and embezzlement, according to the documents. However, it’s unclear how much damages the firm is seeking. As for Erika, she allegedly embezzled the money to help support her “lavish Beverly Hills lifestyles.”
“By all accounts, Girardi keeps engaging in fraud and deception in order to support a never-ending spending spree by himself and Jayne,” the lawsuit stated.
How did Erika Jayne end up in this mess?
The lawsuit even cites Erika Jayne and her self-reported claims that it costs $40,000 a month for her glamorous looks. They explain that’s a reason why she would allegedly embezzle the money. Erika has yet to comment on this lawsuit, as it’s fresh news.
As TV Shows Ace previously reported, Erika filed for divorce from Thomas Girardi after 21 years of marriage. The couple wed on January 7, 2000. However, their separation is “To Be Determined,” according to legal documents. Erika also wants Tom to cover her attorney’s fees in the cast.
While the couple does not have a prenuptial agreement, the Pretty Mess author asked the court to award her spousal support from Tom. It’s unclear whether these legal matters will play out on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 11. Production is on hold due to coronavirus concerns. Plus, viewers have complained about the cast not addressing the real drama going on in their lives.
