‘Love Island’ USA: Will Johnny & Cely’s Relationship Make The Distance?
Love Island couple Johnny Middlebrooks and Cely Vazquez are still together. They feel that they are “very very ready” to tackle their relationship outside of the villa. As fans remember, their relationship was tested when Casa Amor happened. Johnny lost his cool whenever he was around Mercades Schell.
She was introduced as part of Season 2’s twist. The pair got hot and heavy in and out of the sheets. Although Johnny ultimately chose to reunite with Cely at the villa, he left her questioning about his intentions. He had to work hard to earn her trust again.
Now, will their relationship withstand the long-distance?
What are they up to now?
Cely confirmed that they’re still together. However, they live on opposite sides of the country. So, the Love Island couple is faced with another challenge: distance. She admitted to her Instagram followers that “long-distance sucks,” but their couple’s playlists have been helping them get through “the separation anxiety.”
Meanwhile, Johnny launched his own YouTube Channel. He recently posted a Q&A video. In the clip, he admitted that the distance has been “tough,” but yhey are still “moving forward with each other.” Johnny also revealed that he might move to Los Angeles permanently.

But he won’t be alone. His two best friends and his sister might also move with him. Cely currently lives in L.A., so it makes total sense. “At that point, we’re going to be able to explore our relationship on the outside,” Johnny added. “Very excited for that!”
Why this Love Island couple could fail outside the villa
Many fans don’t think Johnny will remain faithful. Although Johnny and Cely looked like the winners of Love Island, they came in second to Justine Ndiba and Caleb Corprew in the finale. So, what could happen to their relationship outside of the show? Bustle reported that Johnny feels confident about their love, moving forward.
“The challenges and everything, they were so stressful to get through, but every single time we got through them it’s made me feel so much more confident in myself and in me and Cely,” Johnny explained. “I definitely feel really strong with her. We’re definitely on the same page [about] everything moving forward, not really too worried about what people have to say.”
He doesn’t care if fans think he’s a player with a bad reputation. Both Johnny and Cely think that the Casa Amor drama made them even stronger. So far, the couple hasn’t confirmed when they’ll be moving in together. But they do plan to meet up in Los Angeles soon.
Johnny and Cely give an update
Earlier this week, the couple made an appearance on After the Island. The Love Island USA Season 2 runner-ups talked about their experience. Cely admits she’s not ready to watch the Casa Amor episodes. But both Johnny and Cely feel that they got a “bad edit,” especially with that unexpected twist.

The couple previously said that in a special video with narrator Matthew Hoffman. Cely also revealed that she loves mornings. She also prefers to be with a man who matches her energy, which is why she chose Johnny from the start. Johnny also has an interest in becoming an R&B singer, and says that Drake is his idol.
