Kelly Dodd Gets MAJOR Heat For ‘Drunk Wives Matter’ Hat
Kelly Dodd from The Real Housewives of Orange County is creating more controversy. She attended a bridal shower over the weekend. The event was packed with women who didn’t wear masks. The party didn’t heed social distancing calls amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
But that’s not all. Kelly also wore a “Drunk Wives Matter” hat at the party. She took to Instagram to post many photos from the events. Some of the photos included three cast members from the Bravo series. The backlash came amid the nationwide protests against racial injustice and police brutality.
Kelly even responded to the backlash.
RHOC castmates attend a packed bridal shower
Kelly Dodd and her castmates attended the event. On Sunday, October 4, she shared many photos on Instagram. The first set of photos included photos from the bridal shower. Most of the women sat close next to each other. There were no face masks or social distancing at the event. Here is just some of the response to the photos:
- “And no social distancing.”
- “Oh look, another republican super spreader event.”
- “No social distancing here no mask, haven’t we learned yet? Look at Trump and he’s in the hospital.”
- “Super spreader.”
- “I really like Kelly and her bravado but I wish she was more responsible.”
This post alone racked up over 1,167 comments. Kelly responded to some of the comments. One fan defended Kelly writing that “common sense” is needed for these types of events. Kelly applauded the fan, saying, “thanks for stating the obvious.”
Then Kelly followed up with another series of photos. She claimed that her followers were asking where their masks were. So, she gave them photographic evidence. But the real problem is that the women didn’t wear them throughout the event.
Several fans commented on her hat
Other fans were shocked by Kelly’s hat. They argued that it was insensitive to the Black Lives Matter movement. This comes amid Kelly’s series of controversial comments on the matter in recent weeks. One fan commented, “This isn’t about what kind of cheese is best.”
“When you are making fun of a movement and the systematic racism it is trying to address and bring down, well it’s a little bigger of a deal,” another fan added. Meanwhile, another user told Kelly not to “make light of anti-racist efforts or be on a reality show.”
Kelly admits that she’ll be part of plenty of debates this season. She promised that RHOC 15 is shaped up to be an interesting one. Another fan remarked that the Instagram thread is probably better than the entire season. “No this Season is going to be great!! I get torn apart,” Kelly said.
Kelly Dodd responds to backlash over her hat
The RHOC star took to Instagram Stories to post a video from the party. In the video, she argued that the “Drunk Wives Matter” hat was just a joke. She didn’t purchase the hat, it was a gift from a friend. Kelly then went on to say that “drunk wives matter. They kind of do.” Her friend agreed with her. Apparently, they had a few drinks already.
God fuck Kelly…. I don’t think I’m going to be able to watch her this season what a disgusting pig of a woman #RHOC pic.twitter.com/SDPyhegTzX

Then, Kelly said, “All lives matter. So sorry.” Then she panned the camera over to one of her other friends, saying that she bought the hat for her. “I thought it was a joke. So, if people can’t take a joke, go f*** yourself,” she said as she put up her middle finger.
