‘The Masked Singer’: Who’s Hiding Underneath The Menacing Serpent Mask?
The Masked Singer Season 4 has fans buzzing. They’ve taken to social media to share their thoughts on each of the contestants. Earlier this month, the Fox competition series unveiled all 16 contestants. Season 4 is off to a strong start with some fierce competition.
The costumes are bigger than ever. And the talent is stronger than ever. There are already theories as to who’s hiding under the Serpent mask. Some fans think it’s a major Broadway star. But not everyone is convinced.
You have been warned! This article contains possible spoilers about Season 4 of Masked Singer.
Introducing the Serpent
The Masked Singer has become what American Idol was back in the day. It’s now the most talked-about reality show at the office watercooler or Zoom meeting. This smash-hit returned this month with already some strong contenders. Even the coronavirus pandemic couldn’t stop this show from moving on with its fourth season.
Fans are already guessing who’s under some of the masks. One of the most interesting contestants to compete this season is the Serpent. It’s one of the most menacing and intimidating costumes known to the show. It has a Cobra-like mask and moving arms thanks to the use of animatronics.
The Masked Singer released footage of the Serpent. There are plenty of Easter eggs and clues in the video. The Serpent makes it clear that he is “ready to swallow my competition whole.” The mystery contestant chose this costume because it “makes me feel more powerful and intimidating. It gives me a leg up on my competition. Or, at least, six arms up on my competition.”
At the end of its introduction video, the Serpent gives viewers its final clue:
“If you want to know how I instantly appeared, here’s the prescription number to my identity. America, I hate to snake it to you, but figuring out my identity is a game you just can’t win.”
The “prescription number” includes a graphic of a pill bottle with the numbers: “31118.” It also features the name “Serpentine Dr. Cannon.” One scene showed the Serpent dancing across the stage, similar to a dance that Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis did on the field. The linebacker’s signature dance made headlines at the 2013 Super Bowl.
What are The Masked Singer fans saying?
In one of the previews for The Masked Singer, there was a clip of the Serpent singing. Some viewers instantly recognized his voice. Some would say he was on the Broadway stage instead of the football field. Here are just some of the theories going around Twitter and Reddit:
- “Bruhhhhh the f***ing Sun on the Masked Singer is Idina Menzel from Frozen, Whatchamacallit sounds like Lil Yachty. Serpent I can not place my f***ing finger around it, I said Channing Tatum.”
- “I believe the Serpent is Aaron Burr, Sir. Listen to the trailer. And the premier [sic]? Wait for it.”
- “If you take the number, flip it, you get 81113 or in visual alphabet sequence, Bille OR Bill E.”
The Serpent hasn’t performed on television yet. It’ll be interesting to see which voice it does resemble. While some of the guesses are kind of ridiculous, it’s part of the fun of the show. Some of the past reveals shocked both viewers and panelists, so nothing is out of the question.
