‘Today’ Sheinelle Jones Begs For Editing Amid Name-Dropping Slip
Sheinelle Jones is a perfect member of the Today Show family, and viewers seem to adore her and her fun, heartfelt, but also quirky stories. Recently, she had a name-dropping slip, and not in a good way. Therefore, she begged for some editing help to keep herself out of the fire. So, whose name did she drop, and what was the reason? Sheinelle Jones Has A Massive Slip
When Sheinelle Jones took a leave from the Today Show, viewers were shocked. They hoped that she was okay, but wondered if she would return. As it turned out, she was tending to her husband, Uche Ojeh, who was battling glioblastoma. This was an aggressive form of brain cancer, and she wanted to be by his side, along with their three children. Sheinelle also had immense support from her fellow anchors, who were like family, which was a beautiful thing. Sadly, Uche passed away in May 2025, and it was unclear if Sheinelle would return.
She did and ultimately landed the permanent co-hosting spot next to Jenna Bush Hager, which was on rotation for a year after Hoda Kotb departed. The two have a lot of fun together and can relate to one another. However, Sheinelle recently had a major slip, and she begged for it to be edited out. She and Jenna were chatting about a new Betty Boop movie, and that triggered Sheinelle’s past babysitter. The sitter that she had when she was little loved Betty, had them watching Grease, while she would chain smoke:
“I used to have a babysitter who would have Betty Boop all over the place. Remember how people used to have those Betty Boop posters? She was an older lady. I remember she was a chain smoker.”
Jenna made it clear to viewers that this was a different time and this is not 2026. She then asked Sheinelle Jones if she liked her sitter, to which she stated that she “loved her.” It was then that the Today fan favorite accidentally said her former sitter’s name and immediately felt horrible. She did not mean for that to happen and begged for it to be edited out.
Sheinelle’s Paving Her Own Way
After Sheinelle Jones’ husband passed, she may not have gotten a chain-smoking sitter. Yet, she does have so many people surrounding and loving her to keep her level. She has expressed her gratitude for how her Today family rallied for her and her three children. They took their own personal experiences and helped them make it through the darkest of days. However, Sheinelle would likely love to have someone like her sitter back in her life, minus the smoking.
