NYC Man Gets Punched In Face & Stabbed After Talking To Cell User
Using the subway to get around can be overwhelming for some, but one recent story saw an underground trip take a dangerous turn. One recent rider found themselves physically attacked after giving a suggestion to another passenger. Since then, locals have spoken up about violence while traveling around the city.
The Victim Was Stabbed In The Gut While Using The E Train
New York Police Department officers found themselves called into Queens’ Jamaica Center/Parsons and Archer subway station at around 11 AM local time on November 22. A 54-year-old had been attacked while using the E train.
A 54-year-old was found to have been attacked while riding the E train. According to authorities, he appeared to have been knifed in the gut.

Reportedly, the victim asked another passenger who was on the phone to stop talking so loudly. This other rider reacted violently, allegedly punching the victim several times in the face, as well as stabbing him in the abdomen.
The victim was taken to a Jamaica hospital while in stable condition. Police said that the suspect ran off the train as it entered the station. According to People, the NYPD shared, “There are no arrests at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.”

The incident took place three days after a similar incident in which a man slashed two strangers with a knife. A third person had also been slapped. This incident took place on the E train platform in the Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike station.
Many locals have opened up about how violence seems to be increasing while traveling underground. Speaking with The New York Post, a teen straphanger at the Jamaica Center–Parsons/Archer station, Fatima Shahid, shared, “Unfortunately, I feel like it happens so often that it’s kind of like we’re desensitized to it.”
Despite Recent Incidents, Transit Crime Is Reportedly Dropping
“It does make me feel a little unsafe. I’m glad that I don’t take the train as often as I used to. … So, I feel a little okay, but I know that somebody who does it every day would be scared and feel unsafe.”
A 37-year-old man, identifying himself as “Perry,” also showed concern over locals getting desensitized to these attacks. He shared, “No, this is not normal, and not what I’ve heard or seen before. Just hearing this is crazy.”

Despite these incidents, the city has undergone a slight decrease in transit crime since last year. According to The New York Daily News, transit crimes are down around 4% overall, with drops in robbery and pickpocketing.
