Disneyland Tourist Dies After Visiting Haunted Mansion
A woman recently passed away after a trip to Disneyland. Notably, the tourist had previously visited the Haunted Mansion attraction in the Anaheim, California, park. Both park officials and the Anaheim Police Department have discussed the situation. This also took place less than a month following a similar incident at an Orlando park.
The Incident Took Place In Early October
The Haunted Mansion is a famous horror-themed attraction in Disneyland, first built in 1968. Notably, the haunted house-style attraction was one of the last projects at the park to be made under Walt Disney’s own direction.
Similar attractions have also been installed in other Disney parks, including Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland. Proving its place in popular culture, the attraction also inspired comics, a video game, and films in 2003 and 2023, as well as a 2021 Halloween special starring the Muppets.

The recent incident took place at the Anaheim park on Monday, October 6, 2025. In a statement to People, Matt Sutter of the Anaheim Police Department shared that “Anaheim Fire & Rescue responded to the Disneyland Resort for an unresponsive woman in her 60s who had just finished riding the Haunted Mansion attraction.”
It was also noted that “Disneyland security personnel provided CPR until paramedics arrived.” The woman was later taken to a local hospital. She was later pronounced deceased.
A Similar Incident Took Place Back In September On A Rollercoaster In Florida
According to Sutter, the situation appeared “to be an unfortunate medical episode.” He claimed that there was “no indication of any operating issues with the attraction,” adding that the attraction reopened shortly afterwards.
An official cause of death has not been released. Sutter claimed that the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner will announce it at a later time. A Disneyland representative also confirmed to the outlet that a guest required medical assistance at the park and was taken to a nearby hospital.

As the outlet previously noted, this takes place less than a month after a similar incident an Orlando theme park. A man, identified as Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, died after riding Universal Epic Universe’s Stardust Racers roller coaster in Orlando, Florida, on September 17.
Orange-Osceola chief medical examiner Joshua Stephany later claimed that Zavala’s cause of death was “multiple blunt impact injuries.” He was 32 at the time of his death.
At the time, a Universal spokesperson shared in a statement, “We are devastated by this tragic event and extend our sincerest sympathies to the guest’s loved ones. We are fully cooperating with Orange County and the ongoing investigation.”
