News has come out that an actress with a decorated career has passed away at the age of 84. The star was known for appearing in various Hallmark projects. Soap fans might also know her for her role on The Young and the Restless.
The Star Reportedly Passed Away In Her Sleep After A ‘Lengthy Illness’
The actress, who was originally born in New York City and started her career in Los Angeles, passed away on September 10, 2025, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She was 84 at the time of her death.
Reportedly, the actress passed away in her sleep. She had also been described as enduring a lengthy illness prior to her passing.

Paula Shaw had a career spanning decades. For many, she is arguably best known for playing Mrs. Pamela Voorhees in the 2003 Freddy vs. Jason movie.
Shaw was also known for appearing on The Young and the Restless in 1989, playing a judge. She also reportedly played judge characters on other shows, including 21 Jump Street,Ā The New Addams Family, The X-Files, andĀ The Twilight Zone.
Paula Shaw Was As A Prolific Actress, & Also Led A Workshop
Shaw also made a name for herself appearing in a variety of Hallmark projects. She appeared in a variety of films for the network, including Five Star Christmas,Ā It Was Always You, andĀ Hanukkah on Rye. She also appeared in the drama series, Cedar Cove, playing Charlotte Jeffers.
Shaw was also known for appearing in a few Canadian children’s show in the 2010s. This includes Some Assembly Required and Mr. Young.

In addition to her acting roles, Shaw was a member of the Actors Studio. She also taught at Esalen Institute, a nonprofit holistic retreat based in California. A website for her workshop, The Max, also released a statement over her passing: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce Paula passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025 morning at 9:00 am. Paula touched countless lives through The MAX, the Mastery, and her transformational work. Her legacy lives on in the communities she created and the lives she changed.”
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Shaw’s agent, Jamie Levitt, shared that she “loved making people laugh. She created ‘family’ in every work environment.
The statement continued, “[Shaw] would often speak to me of making people in production laugh… the folks behind the scenes. She tried to make everyone’s lives a little better before she left them. She made my life better.”
