Man’s Emotional Support Gator Not Allowed At Walmart

Emotional support and service animals can be seen everywhere. They tend to be dogs with identifying jackets or vests on them, so everyone is aware that they are working. Yet, what happens when a support animal is of the scaly kind? Sixty-year-old Wesley Silva of Pennsylvania has an alligator that he calls his emotional support animal. Furthermore, he has taken this gator to Walmart in the past and never had a problem before. It seems everyone was accepting of the gator coming into the popular and frequently visited superstore.

Jinseioshi had been Wesley’s shopping companion and would be seen pushing him in a carriage. He was decked out in a harness and ready for his outing with his owner. However, a woman saw them passing her by and was alarmed. She proceeded to take photos of the emotional support animal in the trolley and had this to say:

“I looked and I saw this alligator dressed up, standing in there, and his mouth was sticking out of the buggy. I didn’t believe it. I don’t want to shop with alligators.”

For the lady, who remains unknown, she shared that she did not want to go back to this Walmart. Moreover, she stated that she was not about to go shopping with a gator. This was news to Wesley, who had never had a problem for years. Allegedly, this was commonplace for him and his pet, so to be reported was shocking.

Wesley was taken aback; he and his gator are praised for their bond. Consumers love seeing them together, and he has been at this Walmart for three years. However, they have now changed the types of animals that can be considered “emotional support.”

No Real Backing

Although the alligator gives Wesley Silva support and makes him feel good, Jinseioshi is not considered a service animal, at least by legal standards. Now, Wesley does have multiple animals of all kinds, including a dog. Yet, this was his Walmart partner of choice, and he has no shame in that. After followers learned about this story, what did they have to say? Should he be able to bring his gator or not?

  • He looks harmless in that cut fur collared sweater.
  • That’s crazy, if you can convince people that you have an emotional support animal thats fine. But an emotional support animal isn’t a service animal. Walmart has delivery and pickup options for you.

Some cited that pups can be far more dangerous than gators, but that does not make everyone feel at ease.
