A lot has gone on in Paula Deen’s life over the last decade or so. She was under public scrutiny for uncomfortable comments. This caused immense backlash, but she was able to rebound and lost a ton of weight. Paula looks nothing like her old self, but that is okay, as she has a faithful fanbase. She recently abruptly closed her famed restaurant that launched her career without any warning. This was another red flag, but luckily, she has two television shows and one web series. The episodes receive thousands of views, so with every low, there is a high.
Due to Paula’s immense success and long-lasting career, she will now be the focus of a new documentary. It will cover the ups and downs of her life, and where she went wrong. However, there will be a lot of inspiration behind her tale because she picked herself back up. The twice-married Emmy winner has a lot to say, and fans will embrace all that she is sharing with this documentary. Paula had just $200 when she opened her first restaurant but was able to make the most of her career and become a multimillionaire.

Unfortunately, she made a racial slur, and over a decade ago, Paula Deen became persona non grata. No one wanted anything to do with her, and that was abundantly clear. The doc is called Canceled: The Paula Deen Story, and was just shown at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6th. So, why do a doc about Paula? It seems that she wants to be heard and is still trying to make sense of the backlash. Yet, she needed some help with verbalizing her story, per filmmaker Billy Corben:
“I think she still doesn’t understand what happened. I think she’s looking for answers, too.”
