ESPN Reveals Desmond Howard’s Fate With Network
Desmond Howard had a very successful football career that included Super Bowl wins and many more accolades. He started his career in Washington and moved on to four other teams. In the end, Desmond landed in Detroit for his last three years. Finally, he moved on in 2002, and three years later, he joined ESPN as a commentator. His focus has been on college football for the last twenty years, but is his time with the network coming to an end? After being a mainstay and fan favorite for so long, it would seem off to let him go. Yet, maybe he has decided to exit on his own accord.

As it turns out, Desmond is not going anywhere, and, after two decades, his contract has been extended. He went in for negotiations to see what they would offer him and it looks like it was good enough for both sides. The network is thrilled to have Desmond stay on, and he is elated that he gets to spend another football and fall season tracking the sport. It is very close to his heart after a stunning career, so to be a part of it in some capacity is all thar Desmond needs. The 55-year-old had this to say about extending his career:
“I am thrilled to continue this journey with ESPN. There’s nothing I’d rather be doing during the fall than showcasing the incredible sport that we all love alongside my College GameDay family.”

Not only has Dedmond Howard won the Super Bowl but he is also a recipient of the Heisman Trophy. Therefore, he has been an asset to ESPN and they are very much aware of his value. Burke Magnus, who is the channel’s content president, shared this:
“Desmond has played a pivotal role in ESPN and College GameDay’s success for two decades, so we’re thrilled that the Heisman Trophy winner and one of college football’s all-time greats will continue to offer his analysis and perspective – and, of course, occasional friendly jabs – across our coverage.”
How Long?
As of now, it is unclear how long Desmond Howard will remain with ESPN. Yet, the contract is said to be multi-year, so he could very well serve another twenty years. Fans adore him and have noted that he has the best laugh and smile, which has made them love tuning in. His commentary has been very much appreciated and now, he is not going anywhere. With football season here, viewers are likely thrilled that he is staying, at least for another season.
