Al Roker Says ‘Today’ Family Is Praying For Sheinelle Jones
Today viewers were recently given an update concerning host Sheinelle Jones. Notably, Jones has been absent from the show since back in December. In addition, many of Jones’ co-hosts, including Al Roker, shared that she is still in their thoughts and prayers.
Today‘s Sheinelle Jones Is Known For Multiple Roles She’s Had With NBC News
Jones is known for a news anchor and a correspondent for NBC News. She is also known for helping co-host Today‘s third hour on weekdays. Prior to this, she had joined Today as part of Weekend Today. She is also known for hosting the “Wild Child” segments in NBC’s The More You Know programs.
Fans have recently noticed that Jones has been absent from Today for quite some time. She last appeared on the show on December 18. Recently, however, Jones’ co-hosts made sure to remind viewers that she was in their thoughts.
As noted by NBC, Jones was the subject of a heartwarming moment during Today‘s Friday, April 12 episode. Craig Melvin, Al Roker, and Dylan Dreyer could all be seen on board a cruise ship, just as it was about to leave a Miami port.
During the segment, the co-hosts noted that Jones was absent due to family matters. However, they shared that they still keep in touch with Jones amid this time.
Jones Previously Talked About Her Absence From Today Back In January
Melvin noted, “I just talked to her a couple days ago — she’s taking some time to be with her family and we talk to her all the time.” At the time, he was speaking with a guest co-host, Access Hollywood‘s Emily Orozco.
Melvin continued, “We love our girl. It’s been nice to see how much everyone loves her, too.” Roker himself added, “Exactly. We’re just praying for her.”
Dreyer also assured that Jones is planning to return to the talk show. She noted, “She misses being here — she misses being here with us, but she’s doing what she needs to do. She’ll be back.”
For her part, Jones previously shared why she was absent from the show on social media back in January. At the time, she shared, “I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show.”
“I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter. It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today show family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon.”

In her personal life, Jones has been married to Uche Ojeh since 2007. Together, they share three children, Kayin and fraternal twins Clara and Uche.
