Here is what you need to know about CowPots, including what they offer and where you can buy them after their Shark Tank appearance.

What Is CowPots On Shark Tank?

This week on Shark Tank, a company called CowPots appears, offering a very unique product. CowPots is a biodegradable pot manufacturer based out of Connecticut. The Freund family founded the business after farming the land since 1949.

As for the biodegradable products, CowPots are made from cow manure produced by the farm’s Holstein herd. The cows are properly cared for and maintained by milking robots and activity tracking collars. They are under a strict, healthy diet by a dairy Nutritionist and veterinarian. The farm is also energy efficient, using solar panels while recycling water.

The company then digests and composts the manure while adding recycled newspaper and cardboard from the community to the mixture. They then create biodegradable pots that are planted directly into the soil. They are designed to break down in one growing season and decompose using the nitrogen content in the manure.

The Freund family began producing the CowPots in 2005, using it in their own greenhouse. They then transitioned to use them for all their herbs, vegetables, and bedding annuals. They reduce waste, support healthy root systems, and prevent transplant shock.

  1. Just watched the Cow Pots episode on Shark Tank….what an awesome idea. Really Biodegradable and Made in America, that’s a win-win for me. Not a big fan of peat, but that’s what’s available. Great way to repurpose poop!!
Now, if only the big box stores would wizen up and start carrying this product…I’m talking to you Home Depot and Lowes
