‘Good Morning America’ Fans’ Cheers Confuse Michael Strahan

Michael Strahan showed up for work at Good Morning America this week to thunderous chants. As he headed in for his morning shift, fans were all chanting “Michael.” It was a nice confidence boost for the morning talk show host. However, it didn’t take long for Michael to realize that these chants were not for the reason he believed.
Here is what the fans were chanting: “Michael,” and what Strahan had to say about it on Good Morning America.
Michael Strahan Thinks Good Morning America Fans Chanting For Him
Michael Strahan showed up for work at Good Morning America on Wednesday, and he was greeted by something special. The fans at the studio were all chanting “Michael.” This hadn’t happened to him before, so he was pleasantly surprised. However, that changed when he realized they weren’t charting for him.
“I was so excited when I came in this morning ’cause I walked in, people were screaming, ‘Michael!’ and they had these jackets with ‘M’ on them, and I was like ‘They love me!’” Strahan said about the seemingly special moment. “Then I realized you were here.”
The fans outside weren’t chanting for Michael Strahan. They changed “Michael” because Michael B. Jordan was that day’s guest on GMA. This made Jordan laugh. The actor said, “You get it too, cut it out, man” (via Parade).
The Good Morning America account shared the clip on its Instagram page, and fans loved the moment between the two Michaels:
- One fan wrote, “We love both Michaels,” then added some crying laughing emojis and hearts after the comment.
- Another fan threw some (playful) shade at Jordan, writing, “Michael B Jordan never won my team a Super Bowl that’s all I’m saying,” adding a crying laughing emoji.
- A third fan had to throw up some old-school Michael B. Jordan love. They wrote, “I told them that Wallace was going to grow up and be fine.” Jordan played Wallace on HBO’s The Wire.
Why Was Michael B. Jordan On Good Morning America?
Michael B. Jordan was on Good Morning America to promote his upcoming horror thriller, Sinners. The movie has Jordan re-teaming with director Ryan Coogler (Black Panther, Creed), who was also on GMA. Hailee Steinfeld was also there to promote the film.

SInners is a period supernatural horror thriller set in the 1930s Southern United States. Jordan plays two characters: twin brothers Smoke and Stack. They return home after leaving their troubled lives behind but find an evil awaiting them. The film hits theaters on April 18, 2025.
“The movies, the characters, and the stories that you choose to tell and what you want to put your lens onto, I think have all been very personal and inspiring,” Michael said of the film. “I know the culture and the community, when they watch your films, they see a piece of themselves.”
