My 600-Lb Life star Mark Rutland is one of Dr. Now’s most unfortunate patients on Season 11. He sought the bariatric surgeon’s help at 715 pounds. But aside from his weight, Mark was also dealing with many health complications. He couldn’t perform any physical activities, making his journey more difficult. My 600-Lb Life: Mark Rutland’s Journey With Dr. Now
Mark had one of the most interesting journeys in Season 11. It’s no secret that most of Dr. Now’s patients have the same goal of getting bariatric surgery. However, the My 600-Lb Life star wanted to prove that he could lose weight without the operation. He wanted to inspire people that they could reach their dreams naturally.
By the end of his episode, Mark dropped 137. His last reported weight was 578 lbs. He continued sharing his story on social media, and many were impressed by how he was able to transform himself. But many were caught off guard when Mark opened up about his surgery journey.
Mark Reveals Shocking Health Issues
In February, Mark Rutland took to social media to announce that the treatment revolving around the tumors on his body didn’t work. According to the My 600-Lb Life star, he ended up developing more tumors, and he was scheduled for another surgery in March. He added that the surgery will aim to remove the tumors and restage the cancer. He added, “The treatment options will depend on the stage and if the cancer has invaded the muscle.”
Mark was also positive that he would get through his current life crisis. He continued, “I love you all, grateful for the kind words and the people talking s**t. They both strengthen me. Prayers for my family are always appreciated, they are taking it harder than I am.”
My 600-Lb Life: Mark Rutland Shares Surgery Update
Mark Rutland recently took to social media to share updates regarding his surgery. According to the My 600-Lb Life star, he took a quick break on social media to regroup and find his perspective. He then revealed that the second surgery was successful, but there were concerns for a few days. Mark didn’t exactly share what they were, but he revealed that those concerns would be alleviated in his next round of treatment.
After a week, Mark shared another photo of himself driving to Jacksonville for his upcoming treatment. He revealed that he hates the procedure, but he’s grateful at the same time to have the privilege to receive it. Mark then said that he will always be thankful for being able to stand up again and keep fighting his health issues. He has yet to share his current weight, but it seems Mark’s recent health crisis has also resulted in a drastic weight loss. There are also speculations that he’s now somewhere below 200 pounds after revealing that he reached 300 pounds in 2023.
