‘American Idol’ Nikki Rodrigues Makes Huge Boast Before Debut

American Idol continues with the audition rounds tonight on ABC. One of the new singers is a young woman named Nikki Rodrigues. She is a teenager from Buffalo Grove in Chicago and is excited to show what she is all about as she attempts to get the ticket to head to Hollywood for the next rounds. She also said her time is now.
Here is what Nikki Rodrigues said about her American Idol auditions and what the public can expect to see from her.
Nikki Rodrigues Talks American Idol Experience
Before her audition airs tonight on American Idol, Nikki Rodrigues had a chance to talk about the experience, which she considers a huge experience for her in her young musical career. Nikki said her mom would post videos of her singing on Facebook, preparing her for people to hear more of her on a large stage.

“I guess I just felt ready, and I wanted my voice to be heard. I wanted to share my music with people,” Nikki said (via ABC News). Nikki turns 18 the same weekend her audition airs on the reality singing competition series, making her believe things are happening the way they were meant to be. She had a huge boast heading into her episode.
“This is my time; I’m meant to do this right now,” Rodrigues said. “It really showed me more about how my life could look like, if I keep going at it, what I could be doing in the future.”
How Did Nikki Rodrigues Make It To American Idol?
Things have changed on American Idol over the years. Where it used to be that people lined up for a chance to earn their spot on the show, Idol producers search out for talent now to compete with the people showing up at the auditions. A producer found Nikki thanks to her TikTok videos. Nikki had been posting to TikTok since she was 10.

“I think that shows that, even if you don’t think anyone is watching, there’s always something good that comes out of it,” Nikki said. However, despite her excitement and belief that her time is now, she said it was still nerve-racking to be in front of the Idol judges. She said it didn’t seem real.
“It goes by really fast. You’re in there. You sing your song, get your feedback and walk out, and ‘oh my God, what just happened?'” Nikki said. “I never really knew what goes on behind the scenes, and everyone was so graceful and happy and welcoming. It’s just something I’m dreaming about. When will it come? When will it come? I was just trying to enjoy every second of it.”
Nikki is not a stranger to the stage either. Her parents are from South America. She travels to Brazil to perform gigs there in the summer. However, her goal is to perform in Chicago. American Idol might help make that dream come true.
