Why Jeffrey Dean Morgan Won’t Rewatch ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Death

Jeffrey Dean Morgan had a fan-favorite role on Grey’s Anatomy in Season 2. He played Denny, who had a relationship with Doctor Izzie Stephens. However, Jeffrey will not watch his death scene in the series. Why? Well he had revealed why he cannot watch the scene where he dies in the famous drama show. There is a lot to unfold. Keep reading to find out more about this situation.
Denny And Izzie’s Story On Grey’s Anatomy
Denny starts off on the show by being a patient of Doctor Preston Burke’s. He had been his patient for a while. However, Izzie was an intern and she got to spend a lot of time with Denny since she was the one checking on him all the time. Izzie and Denny end up falling in love with each other. However, fans knew this was a recipe for disaster. Izzie ultimately ended up pulling Denny’s LVAD line, and he died. She would continue to see hallucinations of Denny, and it haunted her forever. Their storyline was a favorite, and fans wished it did not have to end the way it did. However, it was all a part of Shonda’s master plan for Izzie in the long run.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan Cannot Rewatch His Death Scene
Jeffrey Dean Morgan recently revealed that he cannot rewatch the scene.
“I can’t rewatch it. It makes me cry. One, because it was so awesome, and two, it was f–king incredibly sad to watch. I don’t see myself in there, which I take is a good sign, if I can watch myself acting and not see myself. And I never did, working with Heigl and having Shonda’s words. That’s pretty special. I remember that scene when Denny died, how stressed out I was to perform that and just wanting to give it my absolute best and really try not to chew the scenery and try not to make it overly melodramatic, but to really hit that grief honestly. I put all this pressure on myself to do that well. I was sitting alone a lot, listening to really sad music, thinking about my dead brother, which was fun.”
He cannot rewatch the scene because it is so emotional. Some of it may be because he associates the scene with his dead brother since that is what he was thinking about. However, fans understand why he does not want to see it again.
It seems as though Jeffrey thinks the scene is just too emotional to watch. This makes sense, it is emotional for everyone who sees it. Shonda did a great job with the storyline of Denny and Izzie. Jeffrey also revealed that he was proud of his acting. He could not see himself in his character, which is exactly how he wanted it. What do you think about him not being able to watch the scene?
