‘Bachelor’ Christina Mandrell Opens Up About Sobriety Journey

Bachelor alum Christina Mandrell has made a lot of life changes recently. One of them was quitting drinking. The newlywed opened up about her sobriety journey. Keep reading to find out about the latest challenge she overcame.
Christina Mandrell Found Love In Bachelor Nation
Christina Mandrell was a contestant on Zach Shallcross’ season of The Bachelor. She was eliminated in Week 3. Despite her short time on the show, she was widely considered the villain of the season. So, it’s only fitting that she fell in love with another Bachelor Nation villain.
Christina Mandrell recently tied the knot with Brayden Bowers. He was the bad boy of Charity Lawson’s season. He quit in Week 4 but went on to redeem himself on Season 9 of Bachelor In Paradise. Brayden was on the losing end of a love triangle with Kat Izzo (Bachelor Season 27) and John Henry Spurlock (Bachelorette Season 20.)

Brayden left BIP single. While Kat and John Henry left engaged, it was short-lived. Unfortunately, Bachelor Nation fans didn’t get to see the beginning of Brayden Bowers and Christina Mandrell’s love story. They connected off-screen. But he proposed to her during Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s ill-fated Golden Wedding in January 2024.
Bachelor Alum Opens Up About Sobriety Journey
A few months ago, Christina Mandrell opened up on Instagram that she stopped drinking. She didn’t say whether the Bachelor show impacted her alcohol consumption. However, the show has come under fire in the past for supplying unlimited alcohol. In fact, Bachelor In Paradise had to put a drink limit in place after a scandal involving previous contestants.
The Bachelor Nation alum returned to social media this week to share an update on her sobriety journey. Christina Mandrell revealed that she was now five months sober. She detailed a recent experience that tested her resolve not to drink alcohol.
According to Christina, she went out to a fancy dinner with Brayden. It was one of the first times she’d been out since starting her sobriety journey. She candidly confessed that she stayed home lately because she didn’t trust herself not to drink.
In a lengthy Instagram post, the reality star discussed not knowing what to say when the waiter started into his spiel about the available cocktails. She ended up just saying, “I’m good, thanks,” instead of any other options she considered.
But the true test came when the table next to hers was celebrating and ordering drinks. “I’d be lying if I said it didn’t stir something in me,” she confessed. “But I made it through,” Christina added.
She said that she was more present and more herself without the alcohol. “I’m proud of that. I’m proud of this night. And I’m really proud of how far I’ve come,” she concluded the post.
