Fans of Alaskan Bush People have still been wondering about the series’ fate over the years. In particular, fans are wondering if the series was really cancelled or not. Recently, series star Bear Brown himself has spoken out and addressed the issue with fans.
Fans Have Been Wondering About Alaskan Bush People‘s Fate For A While
On Alaskan Bush People, fans have watched the Brown family, led by Ami and the late Billy Brown, as they lived off the grid in Alaska. Lasting fourteen seasons, the series, which premiered back in 2014, aired its latest episode in December 2022.
Since then, fans have been wondering if the series was truly cancelled or not. Recently, cast member Bear Brown has discussed the issue on social media.
Taking to Instagram, Bear shared a video captioned, “Was Alaskan Bush People canceled?” As he shared, “Is Alaskan Bush People cancelled? In this video, I’m going to answer that question. So, I normally don’t answer specific questions, but I think this one will be okay.”
“So, I’ve been reading a lot of stuff saying that the show was cancelled. That the show’s not coming back. That there’s no more Alaskan Bush People. And so I wanted to make this video to actually set the record straight.”
Addressing the question, Bear shared, “So, is Alaskan Bush People cancelled? No, Alaskan Bush People is not cancelled. Are we filming right now? No, we’re actually not. The official term for the show is that it is ‘on hiatus.'”
“So, like, Discovery doesn’t really have any issue saying when a show’s cancelled. They have cancelled plenty of shows and they normally announce it. And they’re like, ‘This show has been cancelled.’ And they don’t mind saying that.”
Fans Also Shared Their Hope They Would Soon See More Of The Series
“But our show has not been cancelled. So, without giving out too much of their business, basically, Discovery went through a large merger. A super big merger a few years ago. And so they’re, so to speak, still getting their ducks in a row.”
“So, some shows have been cancelled. And some shows have been put on the back burner. Alaskan Bush People has been put on the back burner. And it is not technically cancelled. So, anyone saying it’s cancelled, any news articles saying it’s cancelled, that is not accurate. Alaskan Bush People has not been cancelled, guys.”

Bear then took the time to thank fans of the series for their continued support. As he shared, “So, I just wanted to let y’all guys know that. Cause I know a lot of y’all. You follow the show and the family for a very long time. It’s much appreciated. And I think that y’all guys deserve to know. Alaskan Bush People is not cancelled. God bless.”
