‘Wheel Of Fortune’: Contestant’s Family Makes Ryan Seacrest Giggle
Ryan Seacrest is starting to get his Wheel of Fortune hosting vibes down. The actor has been hosting the game show since September 2024. He has had a rough start to his Wheel hosting career. Fans have been quick to criticize Ryan for his behavior as host. However, he is starting to become a fan favorite. His latest interaction with a contestant’s family members has left fans in hysterics. So what happened? Keep reading to find out.
Wheel of Fortune Player Banks Big Bucks
Ryan Seacrest started hosting Wheel of Fortune in September 2024. He has faced backlash online for making mistakes in his new position. Fans have been quick to judge the star when he does make mistakes. Despite online criticism, Ryan has continued to host the popular game show. Recently, Ryan had a player on the show whose family was less than enthused to be supporting them. Ryan’s interaction with the family left him giggling, and fans were impressed with his efforts to include the family. 
Friday, March 21st, Jeremy Nelson from Chicago, Illinois, was on Wheel Of Fortune against Jack Kugel from Jupiter, Florida, and Sam Guarino from Tustin, California. Nelson started his game strong by winning the first several toss-ups, banking himself $3,000. Nelson continued to solve the first puzzle, winning $7,699 and a rail trip. In the “Before and After” puzzle, Jeremy banked almost $5,000 by guessing many of the letters in the puzzle. However, when he spun the wheel, he landed on Bankrupt. Ryan Seacrest shared that Nelson was “breaking his heart.”
Jeremy Nelson went on to solve the “Food and Drink” puzzle after his fellow contestant went bankrupt trying to solve it. Jeremy finished the round by winning a trip to Italy, and his total bank balance was $22,148. During the Triple Tossup round, Nelson solved the first puzzle, earning another $2,000. Afterward, Jeremy solved the final puzzle, earning himself a bonus round, and his total bank balance was $30,148.
Ryan Seacrest Has Perfect Interaction With Players’ Hesitant Family
In the Bonus round, Ryan Seacrest and Jermey Nelson interacted more personally. Jeremy picked “Showbiz” for his bonus round. Ryan asked who had come with him while he was on Wheel of Fortune. Nelson indicated to the crowd and introduced his mother, father, and sister. Seacrest greeted the family, who gave a small wave and responded with a short “Hi.” Ryan Seacrest prompted the family to wish Jermey Nelson “Good luck”. The family did not immediately respond, and a small, awkward silence ended when Jeremy’s mother finally said, “Good luck, Jeremy.”
Seacrest and the audience giggled at the awkward exchange between the family members. Jeremy responded, “You have to coax them sometimes.” Seacrest, who was folded over laughing, asked him, “Are you sure that’s your family?” Jeremy went on to work on his bonus round puzzle and, unfortunately, was unable to solve it, losing an extra $40,000. However, the exchange with the family left fans supportive of Ryan Seacrest. They took to Reddit to say:
- “Watched this evening and I think Ryan is a FANTASTIC replacement for Pat. Pat of course is iconic but Ryan feels like a natural to me. Very pleasantly surprised.”
- “Agreed. Him and Vanna have great chemistry also.”
- “Ryan is very good and seems to genuinely like, and connect with, people.”
- “I think Ryan is fantastic! I love that he truly is happy for people, or at the very least he is a great actor, because he seems so genuine! I’ve always thought he was a good person and I liked him, but now I think he is really amazing and kind, and I adore him!”
