‘Today’ Al Roker Denies Big Scam On Fans, Says ‘It’s A Lie’

Meteorologist and television personality Al Roker recently opened up with fans about an ongoing scam made using his name and image. Taking to social media, Roker gave a warning about the news, which is connected to a blood pressure treatment. Fans have also been sharing their reactions to the story.

Today‘s Al Roker Explained The Situation Both In Text & On Video

For many, Al Roker is best known as a weatherman. Roker is known for serving as Today‘s meteorologist. In addition, he is known for serving as a co-host on Today‘s third hour.

With the growing presence of A.I., many celebrities have seen their likeness used in various scams. Recently Roker himself took to social media after learning his likeness had been used in such a way and to reassure fans what is really going.

Taking to Instagram, Roker shared in the caption, “Folks, I have been inundated by people asking if I endorsed some bogus #bloodpressure treatment. Let me be clear. I DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH ANY BLOOD PRESSURE TREATMENT OR MEDICINE. IF YOU SEE THIS ONLINE, IT IS A LIE! IT IS UNTRUE. A COMPLETE AND TOTAL RIPOFF.”

“Sorry if there has been any confusion or disappointment this has caused. We keep trying to get these fake videos taken down but it’s like playing digital [whack-a-mole.]”

In the accompanying video, Roker reiterated these points in a subdued voice. As he shared, “Hey, everybody, Al here. I want to share something with you. Because a lot of people are reaching out to people I know. Reaching out to me on Instagram and Twitter. Asking me if I’m endorsing some bogus blood pressure medication. Or treatment of whatever.”

Some Fans Claimed Roker’s Video Saved Them From Falling For The Scam

Let me assure you, I am not. If you see anything, it’s A.I. It’s fake. It’s not real. I am not endorsing any medical product. And if anybody is asking you to part with good money and take part in this, it is bogus.”

“It is false. It’s a lie. I can’t state it any other way. It’s just driving me crazy because people have been really asking family and friends if I am in fact endorsing this. I am not.”

As previously reported, Roker is not the only media personality to see their likeness used in a recent scam. In a recent story, a suspect claiming to be Family Feud host Steve Harvey had cheated a victim out of thousands in cryptocurrency.

On Roker’s most recent post, many fans shared their reactions to the story, some of whom had seen the scam. A few shared tips helping them figure out it was fake.

Others claimed Roker’s video saved them from falling for the scam. Some comments included:

  • “I saw it, too. They used an older picture so I figured it wasn’t real. Thanks for clarifying! You look great! Enjoy the weekend!”
  • “Thank you for letting us know that you are aren’t endorsing that product. I was thinking about purchasing it too!”
  • “Thank you for speaking up. I think most of us realize it’s not the celebrity endorsing a product but many don’t. Thank you.”
  • “I saw it and it was so real I thought…wow!! Thanks for clarifying. You are the best Al!”
