Galey Alix Shares Exciting Update After HGTV Exit
Back in 2023, TikTok star Galey Alix excited audiences when her new show, Home in a Heartbeat, premiered on HGTV. Two years later, many fans are still asking questions about the possibility of a second season.
Alix has since confirmed that Home in a Heartbeat is over, much to her fans’ disappointment. However, she may have something exciting in store. Read on to see what she had to say.
Galey Alix Confesses The Rigorous Filming Schedule Destroyed Her Sanity
As any HGTV fan knows, renovating homes comes with insurmountable stress. While some of the network stars handle it in stride, Galey Alix confesses it was more than she could bear.
Home renovations are challenging. Completing everything in the span of a weekend is nearly impossible.
“We would be awake for sometimes 86 hours straight, going up and down ladders and installing drywall, lighting, built-ins, wallpaper—all while the cameras were filming,” the former HGTV star shared with PEOPLE last fall. “And then add on top of that, I’m also hosting, I’m also producing, I’m the contractor slash designer slash day-laborer. I was wearing so many hats. And my whole body was just literally decomposing in front of me.”
The 31-year-old admitted she didn’t think the series would ever have a second season because the stress might literally kill her. At the end of the day, she’s a self-admitted perfectionist and simply didn’t have enough time to complete the project the way she wanted it.
“I feel like I set myself up for failure, because I wanted to renovate whole homes in 72 hours with my team,” Alix continued. “But I’m also a perfectionist with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), which means I’m not going to let us cut any corners. We’re not going to throw things up, do it quickly and not make it perfect because I don’t have enough time. It had to be right.”
As much as she loved the series, Home in a Heartbeat had to end for her mental health.
The Home in a Heartbeat Star Dishes On A Potential Return To TV
Thankfully for fans, it doesn’t seem like the Home in a Heartbeat star has given up on designing. In fact, she hasn’t ruled out a return to television either.

On her Instagram stories, the designer hosted a Q&A with her audience members. Naturally, one asked when the public could expect to see Galey Alix back on television.
“I have a feeling we’ll do another show again… but it will have to be a different premise,” she told the fan. The short turnaround time was one of Alix’s biggest complaints, but she came up with a solution.
“Maybe people submit a loved one who deserves a makeover & we surprise them without them evening knowing we’re coming!” she continued in the Q&A. “But we need more sleep, so maybe a week turnaround instead of a weekend!”
