Joy Behar is at the point in her life where she doesn’t take crap from people. Even when she is on The View, Joy will say what is on her mind and won’t let anyone run over her. This was shown this week when one of her co-hosts started to talk over her, and she wasn’t having any of it. She then explained her thoughts on being bullied.

Here is what happened on The View and what Joy said about her experience of being bullied.

Joy Behar Won’t Let Anyone Bully Her On The View

Earlier this year, Joy Behar was working as the moderator on The View because Whoopi Goldberg had taken extended time off for her stage play, Annie. She used her time there to refine her ability to keep the co-hosts in check so no one talked over anyone else and everyone got their messages across.

In a recent episode, Joy put these skills to good use. The women were talking about the new Netflix miniseries Adolescence, which premiered on the streaming service on March 13. The miniseries is a British show about a 13-year-old boy who is arrested for killing a female classmate. The series gained attention because every episode was shot in one continuous take with no cuts. This is amazing for a show with child actors.

However, it also takes a hard look at toxic masculinity and bullying. Joy wanted to share her thoughts during the segment, but Alyssa Farah Griffin interrupted her comments and started speaking over her. Sara Haines shared her thoughts first. Joy then began to talk about her experience with bullying when Alyssa interrupted her.

Joy Behar Talks On The View About Being Bullied

Following Sara’s comments on The View, Joy Behar began talking. She said, “Over the years that I’ve been on this planet, there’s been plenty of bullying. I mean they would bully me for wearing Bermuda shorts. I’m serious.” Alyssa then began to talk, and Joy looked over and said, “Excuse me,” to which Alyssa apologized.

Whoopi joked that no one gets between Joy and her Bermuda shorts. Joy didn’t let that deter her. She continued, “But we didn’t have social media in those days when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. That is the difference that these kids are getting bullied 24/7 online. And, it’s up to the parents to keep them off of that stuff.”

Joy then brought up a story about Carol O’Connor from All in the Family. His son died from an overdose. O’Connor publicly said that parents need to watch their kids, keep on top of them, and keep an eye on their children. “It applies right now to, with what we’re watching on this show.”

Alyssa finally got a chance to talk and said that social media was the problem. She said bullying has always existed, but developing social skills, thanks to human interaction, helped kids learn to cope. They don’t have that anymore.
