Mama June: Family Crisis star, Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson has taken a big step in her nursing career. She went to Regis University in Colorado specifically to become a neonatal nurse. So, what is her current status? Keep reading for more details.
Alana Thompson Takes Big Steps In Nursing Career
Mama June fans have questioned if Alana Thompson is still working on going to nursing school. She comes home frequently and does not post many updates regarding how college is going. It was a huge deal when she got a $21K/year scholarship to Regis University in Colorado. At the time, her sister, Anna Cardwell was just diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma. Furthermore, Alana’s boyfriend, Dralin Carswell was in extremely hot water for his legal problems. Therefore, it was unclear if he could leave Georgia. Anna encouraged her to go to college and Dralin was cleared so off they went.
Alana has admitted that it has been hard for her in college. She struggled through some semesters but ultimately came out on top. Recently, a follower on social media had heard some rumors about Alana and nursing school. They asked this:
- Mama June just did a TikTok live where she said Alana got accepted into the PICU nursing program at Regis. She said it was all over Alana’s social media. I think I follow her everywhere and I didn’t see a thing.
Again, Alana Thompson has been relatively quiet on social media but her older sister, Pumpkin Efird, posts all of the time. She recently shared this letter from Alana’s college which shared some incredible news:
On March 7th, Alana Thompson was accepted into Regis University’s Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. She will officially begin in the summer of 2025 so not too far off. This is a huge deal for Alana as she is well on her way to becoming the nurse that she always wanted to be. More so, she is keeping her promise to her sister, Anna, and hopefully graduating college.
Mama June Fans React
Initially, before fans had seen Pumpkin Efird’s posting about Alana Thompson, they did not believe she had gotten into the nursing program. Additionally, they did not believe Mama June could be trusted to relay any message about her kids:
- June is not a reliable source of info . She also said Josh and pumpkin weren’t getting a divorce
- There’s no such thing as a PICU nursing program. Maybe she meant something along the lines of Alana accepted a job or an internship or externship on a PICU floor, but there is no such thing as a nursing school for just PICU.
However, those who saw the acceptance letter on Pumpkin’s page were beyond thrilled for Alana, who also shared the “surreal” news:
