Is Alana Thompson Really In Nursing School?
When it came time for Alana Thompson to apply for college, she kept putting it off. Her sister, Pumpkin Efird, wanted better for Alana and kept encouraging her to apply. She knew that she had dreams and goals but they were derailed due to getting pregnant at seventeen. Still, Alana wanted to do things at her own pace but she did express an interest in nursing, specifically neonatal. She was accepted into Regis University, located in Colorado, and was given a $21K/year scholarship. It was a hard decision to make but she finally accepted it.
Alana struggled to decide if she would make the move because of her sister and her boyfriend. Anna Cardwell had just been diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma so she was fearful to leave her side. Furthermore, Alana’s boyfriend, Dralin Carswell was in legal hot water and there was a chance he could not go with her. He could and Anna encouraged her to live her best life. She made it through her first year and a half of school but fans still have questions about her future career.

There are a few different ways to become a nurse in the US. To get a Bachelors in Nursing (a 4yr degree) you spend your first 2 years as a “nursing major.” I’m assuming that’s what she means when she says “pre-nursing.”
On The Proper Path
According to the Regis University website, they offer three undergraduate nursing options: BSN (Nursing), BSN (Nursing Accelerated), and BSN (Nursing CHOICE). So, it makes sense that she is on the nursing track by getting her BSN in one of these three. Did any other followers have additional insight as to what Alana Thompson might be up to?
- I live in Denver and because of my work, chatted with someone who is an educator at Regis. She’s still at Regis, but not yet in the nursing program.
- I worked in academic advising for nutrition at a nearby college in Denver and had students apply for Regis’ nursing program. Students were pre-nursing 1st 2 years. 2nd semester sophomore year students start applying to nursing school so Alana is probably getting ready to apply.
- She claims to be…that 2 year mark should be coming up soon. She did take a small break too so who knows. She still has dead weight living with her
At this point, it looks like she is in the pre-nursing program and will apply to nursing school in the very near future. Fans do worry that Dralin will hold her back but she promised Anna she would follow through so hopefully, she will honor that.

Alana is a smart and capable young woman. I believe she can do anything she puts her mind to. She has compassion for others, which is necessary for nursing, and I think she would be a great fit.
