'Bachelorette' Alum Sentenced To Prison For Willful Child Abuse

An alum from The Bachelorette is currently behind bars over charges concerning willful child abuse material. Notably, the reality show personality had been sentenced a few months prior. However, news of the official sentence has recently come to light.

The Bachelorette Alum Was Charged With 15 Counts Concerning Child Sexual Abuse Material In Miami

The former Bachelorette contestant was arrested in Florida on 15 charges of possession of child sexual abuse material charges. The contestant had been charged back in early 2023 in a Miami-Dade court.

An arrest reported according to Miami police, an investigation into the reality personality had been opened back in 2022. A search warrant the following year led authorities to uncover 15 files on the former contestant’s phone that were deemed child sexual abuse material.

According to In Touch Weekly, the contestant was Joshua “Josh” Tylerbest. He had appeared on The Bachelorette during Season 17. Coming out in 2021, this season starred Katie Thurston. Tylerbest was eliminated in the season’s Week 4.

As the publication noted, Tylerbest pled not guilty in March 2023. He was then released on a $5,000 bond. More recently, however, Tylerbest took a plea deal and was sentenced in Miami-Dade County in Florida, on September 26, 2024.

The former ABC personality then entered the Sago Palm Re-Entry Center in Pahokee, Florida. He started his sentence on October 23, 2024, and is slated to be released on August 8, 2028.

Josh Was Tylerbest Described As ‘An IT Consultant From Miami’

During his time on the show, ABC released a bio about Tylerbest saying that, “Josh loves hard and says there is really no other way to put it. He is humble, kind-hearted and goofy, but he’s also a hopeless romantic who has always been very in touch with his emotions. Josh is looking for a woman that is kind, open-minded, ambitious and adventurous. He consistently strives to be genuine and wants to find a partner who will do the same.”

“Josh is extremely family-oriented, and finding someone he can bring home to hang with his amazing family for a night of barbeque and playing cards is his dream come true. He plans to show his future wife and kids the same unconditional love he was surrounded by growing up, and really, who could ask for anything more?”

In addition, according to ABC’s website, Tylerbest was said to be “an IT consultant from Miami.” He was also said to be 25 during his time on the show.

Back in 2023, NBC News noted that Tylerbest’s Instagram account appeared to have been deleted following his legal issues. At the time, it was also reported that he had not publicly commented on the case.

During The Bachelorette‘s Season 17 finale, Thurston ultimately got engaged to Blake Moynes. However, the two later split, with her moving onto a relationship with Josh Hersey. Thurston and Hersey laso ended their relationship less than a year later.
