Why ‘Bachelorette’ Charity Lawson Isn’t In Rush To Marry Fiance

The entire Bachelor franchise is like speed dating at 200 miles per hour. The leads spend little time with their contestants when the show is filming. The real getting-to-know-each-other happens once the cameras go down. That’s why so many relationships from the show end in a few months. Bachelorette Charity Lawson got engaged to Dotun Olubeko at the end of her season, but she isn’t in a rush to marry him. The couple shared the latest update on their wedding plans.
Charity Lawson & Dotun Olubeko Admit ‘Adjustment’ Period After Show
Charity Lawson and Dotun Olubeko were among the celebrities attending the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards earlier this week. PEOPLE magazine caught up with the popular Bachelor Nation couple on the red carpet. Dotun and Charity reflected on finding love on reality TV, calling the Bachelor franchise a “speed course” to finding love.
The two candidly admitted that it takes a lot of work to keep their relationship strong after the cameras stop rolling. Dotun Olubeko shared the process of finding out who they really are.

“Just like how goofy we are, how silly we are, all the things that you don’t get the opportunity to show while you’re on the show because you don’t have time,” he said.
Charity Lawson agreed, but said her take on the situation is a bit more serious than his. She explained, “I think obviously, like he said, the show was a crash course to some degree. But us moving in with each other and being in the same living quarters, that definitely is an adjustment, which everyone goes through.”
She added that she’s still learning things about her fiance that she never had the chance to learn on the show. Charity gave the example of learning that Dotun is a night owl. So far, they haven’t learned anything about each other that would damper their relationship, so why are they taking their time to tie the knot?
The Bachelorette Star Isn’t In A Rush To Marry
Charity Lawson and Dotun Olubeko have been engaged since 2023. While fans of the franchise are eager for them to marry, the couple are moving at their own pace. She reminded the outlet that they are planning two weddings, which is a lot of work and takes time.
She said they are taking it “day by day” because they want their wedding to be “super meaningful” instead of rushed. But the longer they wait, the antsier fans get about the couple’s future.

Bachelor Nation Fans Share Odds Of Recently Engaged Couples Lasting
Charity Lawson and Dotun Olubeko are just one couple from recent seasons in the franchise still going strong. Zach Shallcross and Joey Graziadei are still with their final rose winners from their respective seasons of The Bachelor. Zach and Kaity Biggar are planning to marry soon. Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson previously revealed plans for a long engagement.

Bachelor Nation fans recently discussed the three couples on social media. One viewer expressed concern for Joey and Kelsey’s future. But one fan wrote, “Kaity/Zach, Kelsey/Joey, Charity/Dotun are all still together and I’m rooting hard for all of them. Staying together past the 1 year mark is big for BN couples, considering many barely (or don’t) make it past ATFR.”
Another viewer added, “I do think Joey/Kelsey, Charity/Dotun, and Zach/Kaity will all last. I think they are great matches for each other.”
