Bachelorette Katie Thurston is opening up even more about her breast cancer diagnosis. She and her fiance comedian Jeff Arcuri talked more about it in a recent interview. Katie has currently been undergoing fertility treatments in New York before beginning treatment for the cancer. What is she saying now and what is she looking forward to in the future when all this is behind her? Keep reading to get all the details.

Bachelorette Katie Thurston Talks More About Cancer Diagnosis

Former Bachelorette Katie Thurston and Jeff Arcuri appeared on Good Morning America to talk more about her breast cancer diagnosis. Holding back tears, Katie shared that it was completely devastating to get the news. She said it was shocking to hear at the young age of 34 with no history of breast cancer in her family, that she has it.

Katie was diagnosed with stage 3 triple-positive ductal carcinoma in February. She and Jeff thought they’d be planning their wedding. Instead, they are currently waiting for her to start chemotherapy. Over the past few weeks, Katie has been undergoing fertility treatments to harvest her eggs and freeze embryos.

During the interview, she said that if IVF does not work in the future or chemotherapy does have a negative effect on her reproductive system, she and Jeff are okay with being a childless couple.

Katie will begin chemotherapy sometime very soon. She revealed that the reason she is doing chemo before surgery is because of the tumor size. They need to shrink it and then they will go in and remove one or both breasts. She has not had that conversation yet with doctors about what that surgery will look like for her.

In the meantime, Katie shared that she is in survival mode. She has to go to appointments every day and if she doesn’t show up and push through she will die. She said she hates to say it like that but it’s the truth.

What She Hopes Talking About It All Does

Bachelorette Katie Thurston also shared that the biggest thing she hopes everyone takes away from her diagnosis is to not wait. She said everyone should be proactive and get checked. If something seems wrong then get checked, don’t wait.

Jeff continues to be the biggest support to Katie. He postponed his world tour to be with her through treatment.

The couple is using this year to get her the treatments she needs and to just get better.

Along with moving to New York and beginning treatment for her breast cancer, Katie and Jeff also adopted a new puppy. No doubt the puppy will also prove to be a huge support system for Katie.

She has been very open with fans about her diagnosis and treatment. Katie has previously said that anyone that knows her knows that she will kick cancer’s butt.

What do you think about Katie and Jeff’s interview? Do you know someone with a similar situation to Katie’s?

Stay tuned for more updates.
