‘Mountain Monsters’ Season 1 Missing From Discovery Plus

Mountain Monsters fans believed the series ended with its eighth season, but they still enjoy streaming the series. However, some fans recently became worried about how long the show will remain available after the first season seemed to disappear from Discovery+. Other fans are also weighing in on the issue.
The A.I.M.S. Team Tries To Uncover Creates Of Legend On Mountain Monsters
Mountain Monsters is a cryptozoology-themed that originally aired on Destination America. Over the years, it switched to other platforms, including the Travel Channel and streaming services, like Discovery+.
On the series, the A.I.M.S. team tries to uncover the truth about various cryptids. This includes legendary figures like Bigfoot, the Chupacabra, werewolves, hellhounds, and the Mothman.

Team members included John “Trapper” Tice, Jeff Headlee, Jacob “Buck” Lowe, Joseph “Huckleberry” Lott, William “Wild Bill” Neff, and Willy McQuillian. Tragically, however, Tice, who served as the team leader, passed away around the time of the seventh season. Prior to his death, he notably had a reduced role for the fifth and sixth seasons.
During its original run, fans were often given updates about the series on Instagram. Notably the series’ eighth season premiere had been announced in a post.
As noted by Travel Channel‘s website, “Mountain Monsters follows a group of trappers who search the Appalachian Mountains in search of the legendary animals that call those hills their home. Known collectively as the Appalachian Investigators of Mysterious Sightings (AIMS), the men who make up AIMS spend their time investigating reports of mysterious creatures in West Virginia’s Tygart Valley and throughout the Appalachian region.”
The series would end with its eighth season, despite ending on a cliffhanger. However, fans still continued to enjoy the series on streaming.
The Series’ First Season Seemed To Have Vanished From Streaming Services
That said, fans have recently noticed that the series appears to be disappearing from these platforms. Taking to social media, one fan recently claimed that the first season no longer appeared available on Discovery+.
As the fan wrote, “What happened to season 1 on Discovery Plus? It was there yesterday.” The post also contained a screenshot of the episodes. It appeared only seasons two to six were being offered.

Other fans shared similar updates. One wrote, “Just checked on mine. It’s not there, either. And I was just watching season one last night.” In an update, they shared, “Same thing on Max and Hulu only has up to episode 9 of season one and looks out of order, too.” The original poster noted, “Ya, I was watching last night, too. Weird.”
Taking to the comments, many fans offered their own explanations. Some came up with theories by checking other streaming platforms. On the other hand, some thought it was a regional issue, with some fans claiming to still have the first season. Some comments included:
- “So, you have to pay for a different subscription to Max in order to watch it?”
- “Idk. I don’t have it either. That’s alarming. Send them a message [about] it.”
- “I don’t have Season One, either. I only [have] season 2-6 on Discovery Plus.”
- “It is also on Philo. Season 1 is there.”
- “Same here. I was binge watching last night and was watching the Devil Dog episode. I was going to keep watching when I got off.”
- “On Prime Video, it says it’s unavailable due to expired rights. I’m assuming this might be the case with Max?”
- “I still have it in the UK.”
- “All mine are still on Discovery Plus.”
- “Season 1 is still on Travel Channel.”
