Jelly Roll Wants Special Contract With ‘American Idol’

American Idol is returning for its new season with Carrie Underwood as the new third judge. However, while Carrie is replacing Katy Perry this season, another country singer wants a contract with the reality TV show. Jelly Roll has said that he wants a deal with the show.
Here is what you need to know about what the country hitmaker wants from American Idol.
Jelly Roll Wants ‘Lifelong” American Idol Contract
With American Idol returning this weekend to ABC for its new season, Jelly Roll has admitted to his love for the show. He said that he has a dream to get a lifelong contract from the hit reality TV competition singing series. However, he isn’t talking about getting a job as a judge.
Jelly Roll was speaking to Entertainment Tonight, and they discussed American Idol. “What I want to do is get a permanent artist-in-residency there,” the country singer said. “That’s my dream right now … it never could be anybody but me, and American Idol signs a lifelong contract for Jelly Roll to be the mentor artist-in-residence.”
Each season, American Idol has several different mentors from different genres. Examples of these mentors include Tori Kelly, Bebe Rexha, Kane Brown, Ashanti, Josh Groban, and even Jelly Roll. There is no chance they’ll cut down to only one, but Jelly Roll has thrown his name in if they do.
“I just fanned my way into the job … proving how much I know and love about ‘American Idol,'” he said. He admitted that music changed his life and that he would love to help use it to change other people’s lives as well.
American Idol Premieres This Weekend

American Idol Season 23 will see Carrie Underwood joining Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie to welcome a new season of singers to the show. One of the new singers will have a chance to win it all and become the next Idol champion.
To kick off the season, the judges went to open auditions (pre-recorded) in New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville. Jelly Roll will be the first artist-in-residence for the season, working with the contestants. However, he won’t be the only mentor this season.
American Idol Season 23 premieres on ABC on Sunday night, March 9, at 8/7c. Viewers can watch it on ABC, the ABC app, or the website. They will then stream on Hulu the next day.
