In recent months, fans of the Life Below Zero series have been following Jessie Holmes’ dogsled racing career. Notably, it had been thanks to the show Holmes was able to pursue this dream. While tracking his progress, many fans also took to social media to share their support for Holmes.

Life Below Zero Gave Jessie Holmes A Chance To Pursue His Dreams

Viewers were introduced to Jessie Holmes on Life Below Zero, which sees hunters try to make a living for themselves in remote areas of Alaska. On the series, Holmes made a living for himself as a hunter and fisherman in Brushkana, Alaska.

Originally from Alabama, Holmes grew to take an interest in dogsled racing while living in Alaska. At a time, he was known for living with around 40 dogs.

As noted by CBS 42, Holmes shared, upon pursuing dogsled racing, “I kind of had to say ‘Are we going to chase this? Do I want to go down this road?’” At the time, he noted his role on Life Below Zero helped him fund pursuing his dreams.

Life Below Zero have often followed Holmes’ dogsled racing career. Taking to Reddit, one fan, identified as “chaiinprogress,” shared an update with fans. As they noted, “Jessie Holmes is bib number 15 this year for the Iditarod. To watch the check point cameras or tracker, you need to be an Iditarod insider (costs money). Ill be posting a daily update here and will stay up late to see jessie cross the finish line in about 9 days.”

“Due to snow conditions, the race is starting in Fairbanks and is about 150 miles longer than the traditional route. Wishing all the mushers and dogs a safe trip! Go, Jessie, go!”

In a later updated, dated March 4, the fan shared, “Jessie and a bunch of mushers are resting together along the Tanana River, between the Nenana and Manley check points. When Jessie left the Nenana checkpoint, he left in eight place (from 14th) and there’s a LONG way to go.”

“I’ll update again this evening or if anything epic happens like last year when Jessie had to punch a moose in the face. He’s being called ‘Jessie Moosepuncher Holmes’ in the insider chat.”
