Swamp People star Jay Paul Molinere is one of the most iconic cast members on the show. He debuted in Season 2, along with his father, RJ Molinere Jr. The Houma natives gained popularity due to their tendency to wrestle with gators in the water. The two often give expert opinions regarding hunting, catching viewers’ interest. However, they haven’t appeared since Season 10, and many are curious about what they’re up to today. Swamp People: Why Did RJ & Jay Paul Molinere Leave The Show?
One of the main reasons for RJ and Jay’s departure from the show was their assault and battery charges. The Swamp People stars got into trouble with the law again following a road rage incident. According to reports, he allegedly assaulted a man with beer bottles at a gas station’s convenience store. The two never opened up about the incident. But it resulted in them getting forced out of the show.
After the father-son duo departed, the show added more cast members, such as Ronnie Adams, Zak Bagby, Destin Choate, Ashley Jones, and many others. However, many people remain curious about what RJ and Jay have been up to since the show.
Jay Paul Suffers Scary Accident
Jay Paul Molinere continues to stay in touch with the fans since his departure from the show. The Swamp People star is currently working as a driver of heavy machinery ranging from tractors to excavators. He still hunts with his family occasionally and has also uploaded photos of his hunted alligators, proving that he’s still hunting despite leaving the show. But it seems he couldn’t avoid facing life-threatening situations, even on his safe job, away from the swamps.
Recently, Jay shared a photo of his tractor with destroyed windshields. He didn’t share what happened, though he captioned his post with, “Be like that on them big jobs.” Jay didn’t share if he suffered from any injuries, but it’s clear that he’s passionate about his work.
Swamp People: RJ Molinere Jr. Stepped Away For Good?
While Jay continues documenting his life online, his father, RJ, hasn’t been active on social media. His last IG post was back in November 2024, where he showed off his muscles while celebrating. Many fans have also left comments on his last photo, saying that they miss him on the show. Unfortunately, the father-son duo seems no longer interested in working with the Landry family.
Swamp People Season 16 is currently airing new episodes. The seventh episode of the season will air on March 6, 2025, titled New Partners, New Threaths. It will be followed by a March 25th episode titled Tree Breakers, in which Troy teams up with a hunter to chase a 14-foot monster.
