‘American Idol’ Colin Stough’s Shocking Arrest In Tennessee

Colin Stough, who is arguably best known for competing on American Idol, was recently arrested in Tennessee. The Idol alum was taken into custody following a car crash. Notably, this comes out a month after it was announced Stough would headline an upcoming event.

American Idol Fans May Remember Colin Stough From Season 21

Stough appeared on American Idol‘s 21st season. He auditioned for the show in New Orleans with a performance of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man.” At the time, he impressed judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan.

Notably, Stough was only 18 during his time on the show, but regularly advanced through the season. He ultimately placed third that season, behind runner-up Megan Danielle and winer Iam Tongi.

Stough’s own website describes him as “a horse-loving, motorcycle-riding 19-year-old from Gattman, Mississippi has lived through a lot in his relatively short life. And, every ounce of heartbreak can be heard in his gravelly yet commanding rock-leaning vocal.”

According to TMZ, Stough was recently arrested in Tennessee following a car crash. The former American Idol alum was identified as being 20 years old at the time of the incident.

According to authorities, Stough was taken into custody early this past Friday. The incident took place right outside of Nashville, “on I-840 East near the 37-mile marker in Williamson County.”

Stough Was Taken To A Hospital Following The Car Crash

Afterwards, Stough was charged with DUI, underage alcohol consumption, and failure to exercise due care. At this time, it is unclear if he was injured during the crash.

However, the publication claimed that Stough was taken to a hospital following the incident. It is believed he has since been released from police custody on bail.

A month prior, according to Super Talk Mississippi Media, Stough was slated to headline the 2025 Mississippi Makers Fest. At the the time, the publication claimed he was rising through the Nashville ranks with songs like “Sober” and “Bad Day.”

Set to perform on Saturday, May 10, Stough was scheduled to perform alongside “folk rock band Happy Landing, bluesman Jamell Richardson, and bluegrass band The BTJ Trio.” The four acts were all said to be based in Mississippi.

Back in October 2023, Stough had also announced the release on his EP, Promiseland. In a post on Instagram, Stough shared, “PROMISELAND IS OUT!!! I’m so excited, man. This EP represents who I am and where I’m from.”

“It speaks to my life these past few years and has become a source of comfort for me… Maybe that’s why I called it “Promiseland”, and I hope it can be that for you too. It’s available everywhere so go give it a listen!”
