Hearties Find ‘WCTH’ Couple Elizabeth And Nathan Romance’s Is ‘Awkward’
A couple of seasons back, WCTH fans got a shocker when Elizabeth dumped her fiancé Lucas. Then, she moved on with Mountie Nathan Grant. This caused a rift in the Heartie world, with Team Lucas and Team Nathan at odds. However, now that this is the second season of Erin Krakow and Kevin McGarry’s character’s love story, even fans on the Team Nathan side are finding this relationship “awkward.”

Hearties Find Elizabeth And Nathan ‘Awkward’
For the past two seasons of WCTH, Elizabeth has been dating Nathan. A few seasons ago, she was part of a love triangle with Nathan and Lucas. However, after ending her engagement to Lucas, she started to date the Mountie. This made Team Nathan happy. They had been waiting for this for a long time. However, the glow from that relationship has dimmed.
On Reddit, one Heartie wrote in a thread entitled “Elizabeth and Nathan.* “I have to say it took me a while, and I’m still not thrilled with them being together, however, I can’t put my finger on it, but. they’re so awkward in their scenes together. Has anyone else noticed it? I don’t feel like she was that way with Jack or Lucas. They just seem awkward. I can’t think of any other word. It’s kind of uncomfortable watching the scenes with them together. Does anybody else feel that way? They’re both very good actors with all the other cast members. It’s just when the two of them are alone.”
This Heartie likes the actors Erin Krakow and Kevin McGarry. However, she finds that the Elizabeth and Nathan relationship is awkward. Was this poster alone in this feeling?

- I’ve been Team Nathan since the first minute he came on my screen and I find myself fast forwarding their scenes. I actually watched 2 episodes last night because I forgot to watch. I think perhaps they are too close friends now that it’s awkward. I don’t know. It was not like this in S6 and S7.
- I agree. The vibe seems uncomfortable. I know the actors that play Rosemary and Leland are very good friends and I love their scenes together!! I watch probably more because of the supporting cast than Elizabeth and Nathan.
- Originally Team Nathan as well but I am so fast forwarding on all of their couple scenes too. So cringe! No hate on the actor and actress! I love them individually and in other movies but I don’t feel their chemistry this time. I feel something is off.
- Yup. I am sad because I wanted this for so many years.

They act like a married couple – so let them get married. This dating eternally is getting so old.
They have zero romantic chemistry. It feels forced. It actually makes me cringe how awkward they are at times.
There is a lot wrong with this combination. Awkward is a kind way to express it. Their backstory and what has happened to Lucas does not help. Bad writing for sure. Erin and Kevin can’t sell the story because it’s just not there. They have friend chemistry but not lover chemistry. Lucas and Elizabeth were beautiful but they never let them be seen together anymore. I think it’s because they know the contrast will be obvious. They should turn back the clock and bring the show back to where it was at the end of Season 9. All characters and storylines were better then.
The plot lines on this show became unrealistic a few seasons ago. Never should have written in an association between Nathan and Elizabeth’s late husband, Jack. And should’ve let her pick Nathan from the beginning of triangle rather than sully her character through breaking promises to Lucas. Show lost its cohesiveness, integrity, community values with poor writing arcs and cruel comments to fans by some cast and executive producer. Elizabeth has become too frivolous to enjoy watching prancing around the screen. Over the top, which makes relationship with Nathan unbelievable. Season one was phenomenal; they sullied it along way.
Creepiest ‘love’ story ever for the family genre. Every viewer knows Nathan’s background. He should never get Elizabeth and Jack Jr. This ‘hard turn’ from the Elizabeth, Lucas, & Jack Jr family commitment is off brand for Hallmark, and was so unnecessary. They changed original Elizabeth’s values, virtues, and looks, so she’s gone, and new era E, who looks like the actress, is ogling the naked, waxed chest of an on duty Mountie, taking too much medication, and having lustful dreams. 😭 😂. She is supposed to be a 1920s rural Canadian teacher, who was widowed when her husband had to take Nathan’s place on a mission. Her husband died saving lives. Nathan selfishly came to town to ease his guilt, lived a lie, & tried to hook up with Elizabeth, now a widowed mom! He interfered with every aspect of her life, including her engagement to another man, when she was in a vulnerable state. Elizabeth is now out of sorts, trauma bonded to her emotional manipulator. And people wonder why it’s awkward and bleeding viewers? 😩
The couple lacks chemistry. In a big way. Elizabeth and Jack and Elizabeth and Lucas gave passion, romance, cute moments … the kind your favorite couple makes you giddy over. I think this is a result of wanting to push a couple onto the audience when the chemistry isn’t there between the actors. I watched without missing an episode since day one, I’ve tried, but I’ve stopped watching primarily because of this bad story choice.
This show has lost its way. I watched HM channel because of the sweet and happy ending love stories that made me feel good inside and not think about all of the bad that is going on in this world. WCTH was a great escape and now it is unwatchable. I no longer watch the show, but I read on SM about the awful writing. I read about the scene repetitions of L/E scenes from previous episodes. How sickening and unimaginative! I’m also hearing how Lucas’s character is virtually isolated from the townspeople. This show could have continued for years to come if the previous canon had been continued. Now I wait weekly to hear that WCTH has been cancelled because I can’t see it continuing unless the writing improves. I’m so sorry because I loved this show and all of the actors and would watch every movie or show that they starred or guest starred in. I can no longer watch any of the actors except for Chris. I hope things change so that I may be able to be a return viewer.
I love Elizabeth and Nathan I hope they get married soon and have a baby
