Keith Urban Will Team Up With Another Competition Series Vet
Urban is known as country music star, notably being a four-time Grammy winner. In his personal life, he is also prominently known for his marriage to actress Nicole Kidman. However, over the years, he’s also participated in a few television series.
Urban served as a coach on the Australian version of The Voice during the first series. He also notably served as a judge American Idol during seasons 12 to 15.

According to Us Weekly, Urban is set to join a new television series. The country star will headline a new musi competition series, The Road.
The series comes from executive producers Blake Shelton, Taylor Sheridan, Lee Metzger, and David Glasser. It will follow Urban and Shelton and their search for the next big music star.
Much like Urban, Shelton also is no stranger to competition series. In addition to his own musical career, he spent years as a coach on The Voice. In addition he served as a judge on Nashville Star and Clash of the Choirs.
Artists will take the stage at Urban’s opening act at various venues throughout the country, such as in Texas and Tennessee. This will show off their “chops as touring musicians.”
Keith Urban Talked About The Importance Of ‘Paying Your Dues’
Urban shared a statement showing how he can relate to these up-and-coming artists. He shared, “I spent a lot of my underage life playing in some seedy pubs, sometimes just for the bartender. So I love the idea of throwing artists into a real-world environment to find out if they are artists.”
As Urban mused, “Paying your dues sucks, but there are things in this business that can’t be taught.” According to the star, he shared these were things “like how to put together a set list, whether to extend or cut a song during your performance or how to work the crowd.”

“For me, touring has always been my first love. It’s where the rubber meets the road. But it’s the only road to take if you want to be a performer.”
Urban will get to showcase his own music during the program, using songs from the album, High. The audience will get to influence whether the emerging artists, who will open Urban, will move to the next city on tour.
CBS notably promoted the series on Instagram. Sharing a clip of Urban, the post contained the caption: “Join @keithurban and @blakeshelton on a quest to discover America’s next big musician. See you on #TheRoad, coming this Fall to CBS and @paramountplus.” Live from Las Vegas, Urban told fans to “stay tuned for more info” so they could attend show for The Road.
CBS announced that The Road had a series order back in November. The series is set to premiere this upcoming fall 2025 on CBS.
