Joey Graziadei was one of the most popular Bachelor leads in the show’s history. It’s no surprise that he’s a hard act to follow. Season 29 lead Grant Ellis is finding out just how hard it is to live up to the standards Joey set with viewers. There have been a lot of complaints about Grant’s season. But not everyone is hating on Grant. Keep reading to see why some fans think he’s the perfect Bachelor.

Bachelor Fans Defend Grant Ellis Amid Harsh Criticism

Grant Ellis’ season of The Bachelor hasn’t received nearly as much attention as the previous season. According to some Bachelor Nation fans, the former basketball player isn’t serious about finding a wife. In fact, some accuse him of using the reality show to promote his music career. Another issue is that viewers didn’t get to know Grant very well during his time on Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette.

The ratings show a decline from last season as viewers tune out after slamming Season 29 as boring. Despite a rocky season so far, Grant Ellis has his share of supporters and fans who think he’s doing a great job as The Bachelor.

One dedicated fan took to Reddit to sing Grant’s praises and find out if anyone else is enjoying this season. “We all got spoiled last year with Joey, and it’s hard for any other Bachelor lead to compare. I keep seeing comments about how Grant’s a player or is only here to start his music career, but I don’t think he’s that bad as a lead,” the Redditor began the lengthy post.

Other Bachelor Nation fans came out in full force with their own praise for Grant Ellis. Check out some of the best comments:

  • “I like him. And I think he’s a better catch than a significant number of previous bachelors. Athletic, musical, intelligent, reasonably emotionally astute, and no evidence of being a jerk, so far. Maybe he’s the real deal.”
  • “Yeah, he sang some corny songs and there’s no clear front runner yet. He hasn’t handled everything perfectly. But, I feel like he’s been a pretty good lead.”
  • “He’s perfectly fine as a bachelor, just like most of them. Nice, polite, soft spoken. He definitely does not deserve the level of hate he’s been getting.”
  • “I’ve enjoyed Grant as the bachelor. He seems to have self awareness and genuine empathy. I really appreciate him being aware of emotional intelligence and listening skills.”
  • “the music and day trading IS a little cringe but what is every bachelor if not a little cringe??? i think he’s doing fine”
  • “The pacing of this season is off. Is it shorter than usual?? I stopped watching”

Is Season 29 Shorter Than Normal?

The last comment asks if this season is shorter than normal. The answer is yes. Grant’s season is only 9 episodes compared to 11 episodes for Joey Graziadei’s season. In fact, Grant and his final four women are already heading to Hometowns next week.

One reason Grant’s season might be shorter is because of ABC’s upcoming coverage of the Final Four college basketball championship.

How do you think Grant Ellis is doing on The Bachelor? Do you agree with the critics? Sound off in the comments.
