Sebastian Roché Vows ‘1923’ Season 2 Changes Things ‘Forever’

Fans of 1923 know Sebastian Roché as Father Renaud in the Yellowstone prequel series. Recently, much of the series cast and crew talked about the second season, promising it was worth the wait. Roché himself has also spoken more in-depth about the prequel series. He especially promised the characters will change “forever.”
Sebastian Roché Joined The Yellowstone Prequel Series Back In 2022
As an actor, the French-born Roché is known for appearing in a variety of famous series. Some shows include General Hospital, Fringe, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, and The Originals.
In 2022, Roché joined the cast of the Yellowstone prequel series, 1923. He plays Father Renaud, a French Catholic priest. Notably, the series is debuting its second season around two years following its debut season’s finale.

The actor recently spoke with People, giving fans a hint on what to expect with the second season. As Roché noted, fans will find the new season’s events “very satisfactory.”
The actor noted, “For me, season 2 is a season about journeys. All the characters go on a journey and yeah, it’s very satisfactory.”
Roché also talked about what it was like working on the show. He added, “I mean, when you read all the scripts, you realize that at the beginning, you were establishing the characters.”
“Of course, Spencer was on a journey back home. But now you realize every character is on a journey of their own and not only a physical but a psychological journey. And these journeys are going to change these people forever.”
More specifically, Roché also highlighted what his own character, Father Renaud, goes through. As he noted, “What I loved about my character is how complex my journey — how transformational Father Renaud’s journey is — as he stumbles along in his quest to find this girl.”
“What does she represent? It’s a real transformational journey for him.”
Roché Noted The Experience Working On 1923 Was Like A ‘Dream Come True’
While Roché could not reveal too much, he promised that the ending would be an emotional one. He noted that he had “had tears in my eyes” as he read it.
Roché continued, “[Show creator] Taylor [Sheridan] is a romantic at heart and it’s beautiful. The way he writes is really in that vein.”

The actor also noted he was a fan of Sheridan and had admired Yellowstone for sometime. He noted, “He’s a brilliant dialogist — I don’t know if you can say that. That’s a Frenchism. And his dialogues are second to none. And he doesn’t change them. The way he writes them — doesn’t change it.”
“And so you know that it’s set in stone, and his character building is truly exceptional. And I’d seen that because I was a fan of Sicario, Hell or High Water, everything he’s done.”
Roché also admitted there were times he felt like “pinching myself in costume on horseback.” He continued, “It really is a dream come true in terms of a young French boy growing up near Paris, watching American movies, and then here I am. On a massive set of a western with an extraordinary part and an extraordinary journey in my character.”
