‘Karate Kid’ Actor Dead At 80

An actor known for appearing in The Karate Kid, in addition to a number of notable roles, has passed away. Notably, many fans and friends have shared tributes to the late actor. This also included a message from a notable director who was known for working with the actor in a variety of projects.

The ‘Character Actor’ Had Appeared In Over One Hundred Series

The actor was often labeled a “character actor.” Throughout his career, he appeared in over eighty films and over one hundred series.

Peter Jason passed away at the age of 80. No cause of death was immediately made available at this time. He is believed to be survived by his wife, Eileen, in addition to other family.

For many, Jason is known for playing a soccer coach in 1984’s The Karate Kid. In addition, he is known for starring in a variety of films with director John Carpenter. This included Prince of Darkness, They Live, and Village of the Damned.

In the early 2000s, Jason also had the notably recurring role of Con Stapleton on Deadwood. He later reprised the role for a 2019 reunion film.

Some other notable film roles include Mortal Kombat and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. He also appeared on the Pierce Brosnan series Remington Steele. Music video fans may also recognize him from one of the music videos for Meat Loaf’s Bat Out of Hell II.

Many of Jason’s co-workers paid tributes to the actor. On X, Carpenter shared, “Peter Jason, one of the great character actors in cinema, has died. His first movie was Howard Hawks’ RIO LOBO. He was a dear friend and I’ll miss him terribly.”

According to Deadline, Carpenter’s statement served as Jason’s death announcement. The publication also shared a statement from actor Billy Zane. As he shared, “My dear, dear friend, the brightest light, most generous soul and gregarious of men, the supremely talented and kind Peter Jason has left the set.”

As noted by The U.S. Sun, a friend, Matt Anser wrote, “I am heartbroken. My dear friend and my father’s best friend, Peter Jason, passed away today. What a loss He was truly one of the sweetest people on the planet. My heart goes out to his wife and daughter. Peter, I hope you and my dad are up there laughing your a***s off.
