Is ‘FBI’: International’ Getting Canceled?

CBS has been using Tuesday nights for its FBI lineup for the past four years. The three shows, FBI, FBI: International, and FBI: Most Wanted, have made Tuesday a night dedicated to crime dramas. However, things could be changing in the fall of 2025 when CBS introduces a new spinoff: FBI: CIA. With the addition of this fourth show, one of the existing FBI series might be canceled.
CBS Scheduling Issue
While there hasn’t been official confirmation about FBI: International being canceled, many experts believe it is at risk. CBS recently renewed FBI for three seasons, extending it through 2026/2027. On the other hand, both FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted only received one-season renewals, set to end in May 2025. This means that CBS has to make tough decisions about which shows will continue into the future.

The scheduling issue is a big factor in this decision. Primetime TV typically follows a three-hour block from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., and CBS has built FBI night around this block. The network might not have room for four shows in one night, especially with the new spinoff FBI: CIA coming soon. If CBS sticks with the three-hour block for FBI programming, one of the current shows may have to go.
Experts believe that FBI: International is the most likely to be canceled. This is because FBI and FBI: Most Wanted are both filmed in New York City. Making it easier for the network to create crossovers and tie-ins between the shows. Meanwhile, FBI: International is filmed in multiple European cities, including Budapest, Prague, and Tuscany. The international filming locations make it harder to integrate FBI: International into the rest of the FBI franchise, which may make it less of a priority for CBS.
Fans Are Worried For The Show
Fans of FBI: International are especially worried. Many viewers have expressed their love for the show and don’t want to see it canceled. One fan on Reddit shared their concern, writing, “I hope FBI: CIA doesn’t mean one of the FBI shows are canceled, especially FBI: International. It would suck to see the show end.” Others worry that the overseas filming could make FBI: International seem “expendable” compared to the other shows, which have a more consistent setting.

This situation is not unfamiliar for CBS, as they’ve previously canceled shows in favor of new spinoffs. For example, NCIS: Hawai’i was canceled after three seasons in 2024. Even though CBS was working on an NCIS prequel, NCIS: Origins. The network has been known to prioritize new spinoffs over older shows, leaving fans worried about what might happen to their favorite series.
With FBI: International’s future uncertain, fans will have to wait for CBS to make its final decision. For now, viewers are hoping that the network finds a way to keep the beloved show around, even as FBI: CIA prepares to join the lineup. How do you feel about the potential end of the show? Will you continue watching the other FBI spin-offs? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
