Lindstrom and McClain are both known for their work in soaps. Lindstrom is known for playing Ryan Chamberlain and Kevin Collins on General Hospital, first appearing on the soap as the former in 1992. In addition, he’s also appeared on As the World Turns and Days of Our Lives.
Meanwhile, McClain is known for playing Dixie Cooney on All My Children, Rosanna Cabot on As the World Turns, Kelly Andrews on The Young and the Restless. Most recently, she’s been seen in the role of Jennifer Horton on Days of Our Lives, portraying the character from 2020 to 2024.

However, Lindstrom and McClain have a deeper connection beyond that. The two were married in 2014. However, they recently announced in 2024 they were separating. Over the years, the two have also played characters who were romantically attached on their overlapping soaps.
According to Soap Opera Digest, series creator and head writer Michele Val Jean announced the news during a Zoom interview. As she shared, “I finally know the meaning of chomping at the bit because I’ve been so excited to share what we’re about to reveal.”
Val Jean continued, ““It’s my honor, my privilege, my joy to introduce our newest cast members. As she described them, the new additions to the cast are “not only soap opera icons and brilliant actors, but two of my favorite people on the planet.”
Both McClain & Lindstom Have Talked About The New Soap
Lindstrom will play a character named Joey Armstrong. Cady McClain will take on the role of Pamela Curtis.
The actors themselves also talked about joining the new soap. McClain added, “I’m just so thrilled to be a part of this incredible cast and this amazing show.”

“I think it is so exciting. It’s such a beautiful production [with] such amazing actors, and I have the great pleasure of getting to work a great deal with Karla [Mosley], and we have so much fun— probably too much fun!”
Lindstrom also discussed his new character. As he noted, “[Joey is] a bit of an entrepreneur in a kind way. Joey comes from the other side of the tracks. He has fought his way up in many ways, but he’s never lost his charm.”
“But Joey runs a casino, which, if you’ve ever been inside a casino, you know a casino is kind of like what a bar is to an alcoholic. So, people can get into a lot of trouble around Joey, and Joey doesn’t like trouble. He knows how to end trouble, but he doesn’t like trouble.”
Beyond the Gates will premiere February 24, 2025, on CBS. Notably, this will be the first daytime soap to make its debut on a major American broadcast network since 1999’s Passions.
