‘Deadliest Catch’ Will Edgar Ever Be Seen On Show Again?
Deadliest Catch tells the story of fishermen on boats in harsh waters trying to make a living. Plenty of people are aboard these boats, but one man who was a star in the earlier seasons of the reality TV show hasn’t been seen in a few seasons. That is Edgar Hansen, and some fans have wondered if he will ever be back on the show again.

What Happened To Edgar Hansen On Deadliest Catch?
One of the boats that Deadliest Catch followed is the F/V The Northwestern. Most fans know that Captain Sig Hansen leads the boat. Sig’s brother, Edgar Hansen, also works on the vessel. While Edgar presumedly still works on The Northwestern, he has not appeared in an episode of the reality TV show in several seasons.
The Hansen family has been part of the reality show throughout 20 seasons. Captain Sig Hansen has been one of the show’s main stars, and his family’s legacy permeates throughout the series. Sig and Edgar’s dad had been fishing since the 1940s when they migrated from Norway. The family bought The Northwestern in 1977.
In addition to Captain Sid and Edgar, Mandy Hansen and Norman Hansen have been part of the series. Many wondered who might take over the vessel in the future. Edgar had a good chance since he had worked on the vessel for almost three decades. However, he disappeared from the series, and Mandy took on the role of future successor.
Edgar’s last appearance on Deadliest Catch was in 2018. This happened after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl (via Collider). He served no jail time, receiving a 364-day suspended jail sentence and fines. However, he was removed from the show. With that said, he still reportedly works on his brother’s boat.
Fans Wonder If Edgar Hansen Will Ever Return
A recent Reddit thread wondered why Edgar Wright has not appeared at all on Deadliest Catch. The OP wrote that they don’t condone what he did, but if he works on the vessel, they wondered why he isn’t even in background shots.
This led to many fans explaining what they think is going on:
- “I imagine that if they DID show something like that, he’d be blurred out and Rowe would just saw “a crewman” or something.”
- “At the end of the day, you have to understand that it is a constructed reality. It is not at all real in a full contextual sense.”
- “They just don’t write Edgar into the script anymore and use Mandy and her husband as stand ins.”
