‘The View’ Whoopi Goldberg Gives Opinion On ‘Rejection Therapy’

The View moderator, Whoopi Goldberg, and the panelists prepare for Valentine’s Day by discussing “Mistress Day.” Likewise, Whoopi weighs in on the TikTok trend “Rejection Therapy.”
The View Gets Ready For Valentine’s Day
On the February 13 episode of The View, moderator Whoopi Goldberg and panelists Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin prepare for the big day of romance. Disney Theatrical group sent the ladies roses ahead of Valentine’s Day as they promoted the blockbuster musical Beauty And The Beast returning to stages. However, the table also noted that February 13 is known as “Mistress Day” because some men take their mistresses out the day before. They often parade them at the same restaurant where they take their partners the next day. If that idea didn’t sting enough, the panelists hit on the hot topic of “Rejection Therapy,” which is sweeping TikTok.

Whoopi Goldberg Introduces ‘Rejection Therapy’
One of the hot topics that arose was Maureen Evelyn’s stance on taking chances to get past rejection. Whoopi Goldberg introduces the idea of “Rejection Therapy” being a viral trend of “people putting themselves out there.” She says, “Apparently, fear of failure can stop people from even trying.” In Maureen’s expression, she initially applied to Harvard University with the intent to rip the bandaid of rejection off. She knew her chances of acceptance were low, so she did it to have the almost certain rejection under her belt. However, her bold move landed her on the waitlist instead. By daring to do something out of her comfort zone, she built far more confidence. Now, it is inspiring others to do the same.

Alyssa Farah Griffin asserts that she goes through “Rejection Therapy” daily just by being on The View. She knows that her co-hosts are going to push back, and the audience may outright disagree as well. Sara Haines agrees that the “fear of failure” is intimidating. However, she recognizes failure is better than carrying the “weight” of the regret of not ever trying.
While Sunny Hostin doesn’t completely understand people who suffer from Imposter Syndrome, she can directly identify with the fear of rejection. For Sunny, she has already worked twice as hard as a woman of color, so she knows she earned her way. Sunny understands people learn more from failure than they do from success. Furthermore, Joy Behar notes there is a “fear of success” as well. She laughs and looks toward Whoopi Goldberg for their shared experience in comedy. Joy invites people to go through the rigorous rejection of stand-up comedy to learn to get over what people think.
Whoopi Goldberg Gives Opinion On ‘Rejection Therapy’
When the discussion cycled back to The View moderator, Whoopi Goldberg, she had a very straightforward opinion. Whoopi asserts, “Personally, I don’t care if you reject me.” While rejection can be painful, Whoopi stands her ground. She says, “I’m not going anywhere. I don’t care because I’m here.” Furthermore, she reiterates, “I don’t care if you reject me. That doesn’t mean anything.” Instead, for Whoopi, she says, “All that means something is where I take myself, who I am.”

Furthermore, Whoopi Goldberg refuses to give anyone that kind of power over her. She adds, “And I’m not letting anybody I don’t know, anybody who’s not paying my rent, anybody who’s not paying my car note, I’m not letting them make those decisions about who I am.” Emphatically, Whoopi declares, “I make those decisions.” Then, she turns to the audience to implore them to take the same ownership, “You make those decisions.” Undoubtedly, Whoopi is pushing people to let go of what other people think of them and be bold. Likewise, she is reminding people to believe in themselves and make their dreams happen.
