Al Roker’s Ex Alice Bell Dead At 77, Details
News has come out that Alice Bell, the ex-wife of weatherman and television personality Al Roker, has passed away. Reportedly, their daughter was with her during her final moments. Bell was 77 at the time of her death.
Alice Bell’s Daughter Courtney Shared The News Of Her Mother’s Passing
Roker married Bell in 1984. At the time, she was working as a WNBC producer. Together, Roker and Bell adopted their daughter Courtney in 1987. The couple divorced in 1994.
Courtney Roker Laga announced the news of her mother’s passing on Instagram. As she wrote, “She was my mother, my heart, and the most loving grandmother to Sky.”
Roker Laga noted she was with her mother in her final moments. As she noted, “I was with her for her last breath, and I will carry her love with me always.”
The carousel post featured a variety of photos of Alice through the years. The first appeared to be a portrait of Bell holding her infant daughter. In the latter photos, she was seen playing with her grandchild.

As noted by People, Bell’s cause of death has not yet been revealed. However, the publication noted she appeared to be using an oxygen machine in the photos. She was 77 years old at the time of her death.
Al Roker Himself Was Notably Absent During On Today
Notably, Roker himself was absent from the Today show following the news on February 11. NBC meteorologist Dylan Dreyer filled in as a substitute on the show.
Back in 2022, Roker Laga previously shared a tribute to Alice among the women in her life for Mother’s Day. As she noted, “Happy Mother’s Day to the three most important women in my life. My mom Alice, my stepmother Deborah and my mother-in-law Barbara.”

As noted by The New York Times, Roker and Bell were working together by the time they were married. At the time, she was described as “the daughter of Elizabeth Bell of New York and the late Calvin Bell, graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles.”
Bell was also described as “the operations producer for WNBC-TV’s ”Live at Five” news program.” For his part, Roker was also described as “the WNBC- TV weatherman.” It was noted that their marriage took place in Peekskill, New York, at a home owned by “Mr. and Mrs. George Como.”
On Roker Laga’s Instagram post, many fans also shared their condolences over the news. Some comments included:
