Wendy Williams Get Hit With Media Gag Order, No More Talking?
Media personality Wendy Williams’ health concerns and current guardianship has been the subject of various headlines in recent months. Recently, on social media, fans have been talking about a gag order that had been placed on the star. Since then, other fans have been showing their concern for Williams’ current situation.
One TikTok User Talked About ‘Public Outcry’ Concerning Wendy Williams’ Guardianship
Wendy Williams is best known for hosting The Wendy Williams Show. However, she recently retired from the public life, following a diagnosis with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.
During this time, Williams has been placed under a guardianship. However, in recent months, many, including Williams herself, have spoken out about her guardianship.
Taking to Reddit, one fan shared a video from TikTok user “kadishalynnnn.” In it, the TikTok user discussed news of Williams being placed under a gag order, limiting her contact with the media. Notably, this came out after a judge reportedly awarded a victory to Williams.
As the video noted, “Wendy Williams has now been silenced for speaking out about her conservatorship. And this time, she’s being silenced by the judge that is ruling over her case and they said that Wendy Williams can no longer talk to anybody in the media.”
“This judge issued a very strict ruling prohibiting Wendy Williams from contacting any media. Judge said that this aims to protect Wendy Williams’ well-being and privacy. After the public outcry from fans who believe her guardianship is unnecessarily restricted.”
“And why do you need to protect her? is something that Wendy Williams is telling everybody herself. There’s nothing to protect.”
The Video Discussed A Judge Allowing Williams To Visit Her Father For Her Birthday
“She is telling you this is what is happening to me. I am so upset by this it’s not even funny and this decision from the judge came after TMZ interviewed Wendy Williams for a new Tubi documentary called Saving Wendy.
As the video noted, in the documentary, Williams could be seen on the phone with TMZ. A picture was also shared with Williams crying while explaining what she is going through during her guardianship.
The video continued, “We hear her once again break into tears saying that she didn’t even know she was going to be able to see her dad for his 94th birthday.” As previously reported, a judge later gave Wendy permission to visit her father for his birthday. At this time, it was also reported by TMZ that the judge wanted to limit her contact with the media.
The video also noted this, saying, “But during the same court hearing…the judge said she can no longer talk to media.” It was mentioned that, after Williams spends two days in Florida, she will then return to New York, additionally returning to her guardianship.
As the video concluded, “Honestly, I’m heartbroken over this decision by this judge. It’s like he’s taking away the little tiny bit of freedom that she was trying to get back. Like Wendy Williams was grasping, hoping, just for anybody to listen to her and now she’s back to not even having that. And we all have to continue to use our voice and make Wendy Williams be heard.”
Fans Weighed In On The Gag Order & Williams’ Guardianship
In another Reddit post, an Instagram user, “unwinewithtashak,” also shared, “They really trying to keep Wendy quiet… A judge just hit #WendyWilliams with a media ban, blocking her from doing any more interviews after she spilled the wine on her guardianship and how she’s being cut off from the world.” The post noted this continued following her Breakfast Club interview.
“The interviews had the #FreeWendy movement going strong. But it looks like her guardian wasn’t feeling the pressure.”
As the Reddit post continued, “Now, the courts are saying the gag order is for her ‘well-being and privacy,’ but who is really benefitting from keeping Wendy silent?.” In the comments, one fans notably wrote, “They don’t want [Williams] talking to us because it would show that she is competent.”
On both Reddit posts, many fans shared their concerns in the comments. Many showed sympathy towards Williams.
According to them, even if the health concerns are genuine, they felt the guardianship might not be ideal for her. On the other hand, others were unsure how the gag order could be put in place. Some of these comments included:
