‘Today’ Savannah Guthrie Credits Khloe Kardashian For Rescuing Her
The Today Show co-anchor, Savannah Guthrie credits The Kardashians star, Khloe Kardashian, for rescuing her. During a close call, Khloe was quick on her feet and saved Savannah’s “butt.”
Craig Melvin And Savannah Guthrie Field An Awkward Question From Andy Cohen
Recently, The Today Show co-anchor, Savannah Guthrie reveals to Andy Cohen one of her most embarrassing moments on TV during a SiriusXM interview. When Andy asks the question, Craig Melvin admits it is a “really long list” for him, but Savannah had one moment stick out in particular. Then, Savannah talks about how Andy’s “favorite Kardashian,” Khloe Kardashian, threw her a line when she was a “naive, green anchor” navigating interviews early on in her career.
Savannah Guthrie Describes Her Embarrassment
As Andy Cohen listens to Savannah Guthrie relive her embarrassment, she gives Khloe Kardashian major kudos. Begrudgingly, Savannah prepared to ask Khloe about a hot topic circulating at the time. The producers had told Savannah she needed to get Khloe to answer if Robert Kardashian was her father. Undoubtedly, Savannah was hesitant to ask such a difficult question knowing people thought Kris Jenner had gotten pregnant while having an affair with OJ Simpson. It was so embarrassing for Savannah she admits, “So I did what any naive, green anchor would do, which is leave it to the last.”
Savannah Guthrie Credits Khloe Kardashian For Rescuing Her
Savannah Guthrie explains, “Well, at The Today Show, we have a thing called the ‘hard out.’ And the hard out means you have to be done, the show is going to black at such and such time.” However, saving the question to the end made it nearly impossible to fulfill what the producers had requested. Andy Cohen is shocked when Savannah reveals she tried to squeeze such a difficult topic into the final 10 seconds of the show. But Khloe Kardashian had her back.
Savannah confesses, “Andy, I said, ‘Khloe, and just real quickly, in the seconds we have, there’ve been some stories that Robert Kardashian is not your father. Is he?’” Then, she credits how great Khloe was under pressure, “And she’s like, and God bless her, and I will always — if I saw her today — I’d hug her for this. I don’t know if she’s such a pro that she saw them counting down like ‘three, two…’” But Khloe rescues her with a quick, “‘Yep, I know. Nothing to it.’” Savannah remembers cutting quickly, “And I was like, ‘and we’ll be right back.’”
‘She Saved My Butt’
Although The Today Show co-anchor, Savannah Guthrie recalls it being horrible, she was amazed at Khloe Kardashian’s professional move. But she has very fond memories of Khloe’s kindness in such a tricky situation. She says, “She saved my butt.” Likewise, she believes, “She’s a doll.” Undoubtedly, Khloe has the knack for extending care even when there is tension. However, Savannah has since learned to face the hard questions sooner in her discussions.
