In recent months, Wendy Williams’ guardianship has faced scrutiny, with many thinking her condition has been exaggerated. Even Williams herself has spoken out about her situation. In a recent interview, she even questioned claims of her diagnosis. Fans have also speculated on just what had happened during her original testing.

Talk show host Wendy Williams of The Wendy Williams Show fame retired from public life after being diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. Since then, she has also been placed under a guardianship.

However, Williams’ guardianship has received criticism in recent months, with many questioning if it is really necessary. Even Williams herself and her family have spoken out about the situation. Recently, Williams has also spoken out about her diagnosis.

As shared in a video by Entertainment Tonight, Williams recently appeared on Charlamagne Tha God’s The Breakfast Club podcast. While on the radio program, Williams claimed, “I don’t have frontotemporal dementia…it’s disgusting.”

Fans Shared Their Own Experiences Dealing With Similar Testing

Williams continued, “That’s a very rare thing for anybody to have.” She also added, “I’m not incapacitated. I am not a baby.”

Ultimately, Williams felt that, “It’s disgusting that I have a fake frontal temporal dementia. It’s fake.”

As noted by People, Williams also talked about her guardian Sabrina Morrissey’s lawsuit against A&E and Lifetime, among other affiliates. A&E has since denied the claims and filed a counterclaim. For her part, Williams noted, “I only watched [the docuseries] once and I will never watch again in life.”

However, Williams noted she wouldn’t be against working with Lifetime in the future. She noted, “I would love to do something with Lifetime again. They are good people to me and I am good people to them.”

The Entertainment Tonight clip was later shared by fans on Reddit. Many questioned what could have happened during testing to cause an incorrect frontotemporal dementia diagnosis. However, others were unsure about Williams’ own claims.

Some fans who had familiarity with these tests also shared similar experiences. Some of these comments included:

  • “How did she do on the test they give for dementia? Can she draw numbers on a clock and show the time, know a lion from a monkey and who to call id there’s an emergency?”
  • “There’s many more extensive tests they must have done to pinpoint Frontal Lobular Dementia (not sure what she was calling it).”
  • “It’s possible she has/had alcohol induced brain damage which could heal.”
  • “Wendy is coming home? I hope so.”
  • “There’s been so many conflicting information we’ve been told that it’s hard to decipher the truth. Time will tell.”
