A new documentary series focusing on Wendy Williams is coming to Tubi. The documentary is expected to focus on, and questions, Williams’ current guardianship. Many fans of Williams have also commented on the special on social media.
The TMZ Wendy Williams Documentary Will Stream For Free On Tubi
Williams is best known for hosting The Wendy Williams Show. However, Williams has retired from public life following a diagnosis of aphasia and frontotemporal dementia and being placed under a guardianship.
Since then, it has come to light that TMZ has been working on a documentary, Saving Wendy Williams. With a release on the Tubi platform, which will allow viewers to stream it for free, the documentary will take a close look at Williams’ current guardianship.

As previously reported, TMZ had previously discussed the upcoming documentary while breaking a story on Williams being allowed to take a trip to Florida. At the time, this meant Williams would be allowed to attend her father’s birthday.
The TMZ Executive Producer Previously Talked About Williams’ Guardianship
A Tubi Facebook fan page also shared the following description for the special: “TMZ presents “Saving Wendy Williams.” The new documentary will raise serious questions about why Wendy is still in a guardianship that gives her virtually no freedom.”
“She calls her apartment a ‘luxury prison,’ where she rarely gets to breathe fresh air, has no internet access, and virtually no visitors … no one can even call her. “Saving Wendy” drops Wednesday, Feb. 12 … streaming for free on Tubi. #FreeWendy.”

The earlier TMZ report had also confirmed the Feb. 12 release date. As previously reported, TMZ Executive Producer Harvey Levin also shared that he spoke with Williams. At the time, he publicly questioned Williams’ guardianship, saying what she really needed was a “sober coach.”

Fans on Reddit also discussed the news of the upcoming documentary. As one fan noted, “It will show a telephone interview with Wendy.”
Taking to the comments, many fans showed sympathy and concern towards Williams. Many felt that a documentary might not be good for Williams’ health. Some comments included:
- “I feel so bad for her, this is such a humbling testament that nothing truly belongs to you, we don’t know where the universe will take us. I wish I could go back in time and stop her from meeting that man, and throw the bottles away!”
- “This is terrible for Wendy’s health. I think this is irresponsible! Everyone is getting one side, while I think she should be able to see family frequently, it’s clear that contact with them and the media makes her decline.”
- “For me it’s more about loosening up on the restrictions instead of just completely releasing her to the family”
- “Did anyone else notice this, in the Lifetime doc and everything that’s out with her, we never hear Wendy saying her signature, ‘How you doin?'”
