The View Panelists Love Amy Schumer
On the February 3 episode of The View, Amy Schumer was on set to discuss the new Netflix movie, Kinda Pregnant. The whole panel seemed to appreciate Amy’s fun spirit she brought to the stage. She even left Whoopi Goldberg frozen in disbelief with the gift she brought. However, Whoopi turned the floor over to Ana Navarro who was chomping at the bit to deliver Amy surprising news.

Ana Navarro Discovers Shocking Connection To Amy Schumer
As The View co–host, Ana Navarro addresses Amy Schumer, she brings up a little history lesson for her on air. Ana shares that like Amy, she was on historian and filmmaker, Henry Louis Gates Jr.’s show, Finding Your Roots. Amy’s PBS episode aired on December 19, 2017. Ana says, “The host of Finding Your Roots on PBS, was here last week.”

But Ana Navarro reveals what she learned while on the show. Saying, “He traced your ancestry some seasons ago. It turns out you and I have something in common.” They share an unbroken DNA thread. When Ana discovered she was related to Chuck Schumer, she was concerned for both of their reputations. However, Amy embraced Ana saying, “Cousin! Cousin!”

Then, Ana Navarro asks, “Did you know there were wandering Schumers in Nicaragua? How did this happen?” Amy responds, “I had no idea, but I’m so honored. We have to start hanging out more.” Although Ana fears it may “ruin” Amy’s reputation, Amy soothed the idea by not shying away. Instead, she let her know they would “do it together.” Ana also hopes that if they are “running around” with each other, maybe she’ll be spared by ICE.
Amy Schumer And Ana Navarro Were Both Touched By Their Experience
When Amy Schumer was on Finding Your Roots, she had many emotions boil up while hearing about her past. She felt so connected with the ancestors who had paved the path before her. Amy even jokes about being “speechless.”
Likewise, Ana Navarro previously shared she has slavery in her lineage, which made her pause and reflect on what they went through. Ana elaborates, “I’ve always been very touched by stories about slavery, about civil rights, but now they’re not just abstract history. Now it’s also my own history.”
Furthermore, Ana explains, “And so to know that I’ve got that inside of me was very meaningful.” Additionally, it inspires her to look past the shell of people she meets. She said, “How we look on the outside may not be the entire story. Too often today, we get hung up on labels. You know, whether you’re White, whether you’re Brown, whether you’re Black, whether you’re this, whether you’re that, whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican, a conservative, a progressive.” But she encourages others to look deeper. She adds, “Don’t get full hung up on these external label because a lot of times, what’s going on internally is much different.”
