Katy Perry Reveals Fallout From ‘American Idol’ Departure

When Katy Perry left American Idol, it was something many fans were happy about. While she left because she wanted to release new music and launch her latest world tour, fans felt she was getting too polarizing on the reality competition show. However, there were also rumors that the crew of the reality show was happy she was gone.
Katy Perry has now responded to some of the talk of her break from the show.
Katy Perry On Relationship With Other American Idol Judges
When Katy Perry left American Idol, Carrie Underwood replaced her as a judge. Carrie is the first former Idol winner to become a full-time judge on the reality competition series. However, many fans believe that Katy is now persona-non-grata with the rest of the Idol crew.
In a recent interview, Katy said that is not true at all. She said that she is still talking to Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. “Yeah, of course. Of course. All the time,” Katy told Jimmy Kimmel (via YouTube). “I miss them so much. They probably have a new text chain but I think it’s perfect. It’s coming out in March so you gotta watch.”
While Katy said that she is still keeping in touch with the other judges, she also said that she is not going to return to the series. This is a complete turnaround from her original words, where she said whoever replaces her needed to keep her seat warm.
“I love Idol so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat,” Katy said. “Let’s just say I’m creating space for my new wingspan.”
What Is Next For Katy Perry After American Idol?
Katy Perry released her new album, 143, in 2024. The regular edition of the album has 11 songs, while there are special editions with extra tracks. The album debuted at number six on the Billboard 200 chart. She has released four singles, but only “Woman’s World” charted on the Billboard Hot 100.
She is now ready to start her The Litetimes Tour in 2025. The tour begins in April in Mexico City and will run through November in France. The North American dates include a run from May 7 to May 21, then from July 12 to August 23. There are a total of 66 concerts in 19 countries.
However, when it comes to television appearances, Katy has put those on hold as she works on her music carer once again.
